Nearly all Division I schools will have more accomplishments than us throughout the history of the two institutions'. We've only been a school for 38 years, and only D-I for about 20 years.

And sailing? Who cares about sailing?

We avg around 7,500 for bball. If you came down to the LU v ODU game you would know that.
I was asking about FOOTBALL. We are in the middle of renovating a 60 year old building on campus and have around 14,500 preorder for season tickets.
I went to LU on a homecoming weekend awhile back and know your stadium is nice... just looking for numbers of seats and avg number of butts per game.
Last year's average was precisely 13,147

Good enough for number 17 in the country in the FCS

That's cool. Do you guys get the games on tv on campus?
We have fixed up an the old Foreman field to seat about 20K. We have about 14K on a waiting list with the sports boosters deadline to sign up on May 1. We will know the full season tickets sales first week of May.

I like Liberty, wasn't trying to start anything. You guys have funding issues that we don't have, character standards and other things that most public schools don't have to deal with.
I hope we start a interstate rivalry in Football... in a few years when we grow up.
I was listening to FoxSports Radio and they were talking about your RB possibly going in the 3rd round. That's impressive.

If you lived near the Ocean you would also have a sailing team. Different regions... I know on the west coast volleyball is huge.

I'll explain it like this. One guy wants to find a date online. He has no religious preference and finds 200 gals that make a match. Another guy will only date christian women he goes online and has 22 matches.
People that donate to Liberty buy into the Liberty Way and all that Liberty stands for, at ODU you could be an agnostic, atheist, Muslim, etc and donate to ODU Sports without any "problems".

Plus the government helps pay for our science labs and research facilities. You guys have to basically pay for everything. So we sorta have two streams of funding. unfair advantage.

It's sorta like nonBCS teams going up against BCS teams. BCS teams like Michigan have 800,000 people paying for football tickets every year.... money streams into all sports. non BCS teams don't have that additional stream of income.

We don't have any funding issues, I can guarantee you that. Because we are who we are, we get donors from people we couldn't imagine to get if we were some random state college. People that will never even step foot on our campus.

Didn't you go to LU for undergrad and ODU for graduate school? I've never heard of anybody who identified themselves more with the latter.

I admire and appreciate both. Sorta like having your favorite NFC team and AFC team.
I haven't been to Liberty in y e a r s, Norfolk is my hometown... so I'm always going to pull for my hometown.
I see no conflict until people on here say ODU only has 200 fans or that we suck at every sport but basketball. When I get that poop I just reply with facts.
It's all good. Hopefully I will be up there when ODU plays LU.

Theus is heading to VCU. He plans on signing a letter of intent today. Has a great relationship with coach Shaka Smart and with the recent departure to Eric Maynor (graduation and NBA) and Joey Rodriguez (transferring) he likes his options there.
