Kyle is the only proven scorer returning and I think he will suffer without defenses keying on Anthony and Seth. Could be the rebuilding year that we expected this yearMinaya has proved he could score, so has Jeremy Anderson. Jesse has proven he can score when needed. That's four scorers.

Be afraid BJ, be very afraid.
LUconn wrote:I just noticed in proto's rant against BJ he said Baker's rumored to be next. Uhhh, that would be the dagger in the rest of Baker's basketball career. He got here in 05-06. How could he possibly sit out another year and then have any eligibility left?

You let him go now, it hurts your grad rate, and loses you a scholly later. Just let him stay and graduate and then move on if you dont want him on the team...
ToTheLeft wrote:I don't know his academic standing, but he very well could be graduating this year. As in a month and a half from now. If that were the case, he could transfer to another Divison I school with a grad program and play right away.LUconn wrote:I just noticed in proto's rant against BJ he said Baker's rumored to be next. You just don't know - so Minaya still has to prove it. And those other guys haven't been the main threat - so you never know how they handle the pressure of having to be the man on a nightly basis.jinxy wrote:like i said in the past, i just wish we could keep the same team together for more than a year or two and see what happens. We have three guys (plus Kyle) returning that have all proved they can score on a collegiate level.SuperJon wrote:You can't use that argument Jon. The point is, we need a team to stick together. That's what was so exciting about this team. Thinking how good they were going to be in 4 years.

jinxy wrote:i dont know, I'm just saying we dont have a lot of proven commodities right now.You say the biggest improvement comes between freshman and sophomore year and that it scares you about Seth because he has an extra year, yet you degrade Minaya for having that same year. I know that he didn't average very many points, but he had 4-5 games where he broke out and scored in double figures. With an entire year of development since then, it's a safe assumption to assume he's going to average 10-12 points a game. Jesse's role wasn't to score. You saw in games this year when no one else was scoring that Jesse could score. Look at our game against JMU. Seth was nowhere to be found so Jesse drove to the basket and got layups or foul shots or both. He had the highest shooting percentage of anyone who shot at least 100 shots. He was the third highest in free throw % for people who shot at least 50 free throws. He's got the ability, but that wasn't his role this year. Add Jeremy to that mix and that's three guys who we know can compliment Kyle next year before we even begin to rely on freshmen. If Seth would've stuck it out he would've seen that next year the junk defenses wouldn't work but he gave up and took his ball and went home.
-I dont know how you can say Minaya was proven scorer, didnt he average like 4 or 5 points a game, Jesse was around 7 I'm guessing. I mean were losing 20 and 18 haha, None of us know we will just have to wait and see who we bring in and how the other guys mature over the summer. THey always say the biggest improvement comes between the freshman and sophomore year. That is the part that scares me about Seth ahah, he will have a extra year in there to develop. It's water under the bridge. We will know a lot more in a couple weeks once signing day has taken place.
SuperJon wrote:Lets get our definitions on point....we have shooters NOT scorers. None of those guys have proved to me that they can drive the basket and can consistently create there own shot.prototype wrote:I wasn't talking about high school. I was talking about college. prototype wrote:Come on guys - Minaya doesn't get a free pass. He needs to prove himself like everyone else. He averaged 3.7 points for a bad program last year. I hope he can come in and contribute. It's because we've seen him in practice. It's a consensus that he is going to be a good player.
I hate you Merry Christmas :D  May[…]
