This year we may not be able to get better than a 15 or 16 seed, but we can’t just chalk out of conference games and say they’re irrelevant anymore.

This is a conversation that we need to save for the appropriate time. However, if we're fortunate enough to win the conference tourney, and we end up with 20 wins or so, then we'll be in a good position to grab a 14 seed, depending on what the OOC wins look like at season's end.

Also, with the Curry-factor in play, it's not out of the question that we could get a favorable match-up in the tourney.

ok so this may be a really far stretch... but do ya'll remember last year davidson had very close games but ended with loses with UCLA, DUKE, UNC, ect. ....

I think that those teams are a lot higher caliber then UVA, CLEMSON, and DePaul, and it was Curry's second season but i think its cool to think about....

still its a far far far stretch but fun to think about....

No. We won't.

It doesn't matter what we do. If we get in, we're a 16. That's it. Unless your name is Winthrop and you've been to the tournament four times in a row, no one from the Big South is getting anything other than a 16.

Again, this conversation will be better served at a later time. However, they'll be plenty of teams with less impressive resumes and no Curry-factor.

With 20 wins, I like our chances at a winnable game

Also, keep in mind, as a previous poster indicated, Men's NCAA basketball is a completely different animal and in no way comparable to the fraternal excesses of Women's BB or the football division formally known as 1AA.

The underdog/upset factor is part of what makes the NCAA tourney what it is. And LU has a chance to be on a shortlist of potential darlings. But again, this a conversation that will hopefully take place in March, if we're fortuate enough to garner at least 20 wins along with the conference bid.

Dude....all of this tourney talk because we took two mediocre teams in power conferences to the wire and beat a bad ACC team? Remember what Asheville did to us? Lets not start talking tourney until we plsy out our BSC schedule. So much could happen between now and then. Of course it is fun to talk because we are playing with and beating household name teams, but you have no idea where we will be around tournament time.

How 'bout enjoying the ride and watching us actually lit up yellow on the ticker of the ESPN family of networks. With a mid major like us, we could have a completely different team now than we will next year. Lets live in the moment people.

Some guys drink Kool-Aid. You, sir, have apparently condensed said Kool-Aid down into red, white and navy blue crack.

Asheville? are you kidding me? It's fairly obvious you've just been paying attention to those ticker scores and not what's been actually happening.

back to last nights game. The thing with the officiating is that with 1.1 seconds left Ohman steals the ball. Hes on the floor holding the ball and the ref calls a foul against him. How on earth does that happen? Dar was grabbing him trying to steal it back and apparently gets fouled by the person holding it?

In regards to a 16 seed...

I think IF Liberty wins the Big South*, they'd be in position for something better than a #16 seed. My reasoning is short and simple.

There will be champions of five conferences worse than us. By far. There's always a Coppin State type of team who makes a run in Late February and gets an auto-bid with a 14-17 record.

There are 24 games left. If we win 20 of them -- which is lofty but not entirely out of the question -- we'd sport a 27-7 record. That's gotta be good for a 15 seed.

Heck, I'd say that'd be good enough for an NIT berth.*

* - I am only having this conversation as a ballast. Other people brought it up. My focus is the game against Saint Louis and only that game, and I feel the team should feel the same way.

Kool-Aid, huh? Strange though, how it all seems to be coming together and well within the range of possibility.

Nice Keith Olbermann impersonation  there's free on-campus counceling and support for that

the other thing that should be taken away from this game. Basically we played an entire team of people a foot taller than us, which is alot of why seth only had 2 points the first half. That was a great thing for us to be able to as well as we did against the big boys. Odi is freaking huge, and is also freaking nasty looking.

Yeah, you can talk about our potential 27-7 record, but consider...

Wins over HPU and CCU will be wins over 300+ RPI teams.

Wins over Cincy Christian, Montreat, Coker, and Anderson don't count at all.

Wins over UNCA, CSU, Radford, etc will be RPI 200+, still not that impressive.

They committee will see wins, sure. But they will see about 3 or 4 that matter. We've only played one ranked team.

This website drives me nuts some times. I used to be one of you, and that's why I feel for you. Put down the kool-aid and pick up your thinking cap. We're in the worst conference in America, other than the HBCU conferences, in all of college basketball. Don't expect too much until we get some history and prestige. That will come if Seth and Brolin and Jesse (And JC Sanders) keep leading us there. But just because WE like us doesn't mean THEY like us.

agreed.

Another thing of note about last nights game. I sat behind a team that had played Jesse Sanders in the national homeschool tournament and they were proud when he scored six points because they held him to 5 in their game against him, apparently thus making them better than depaul. They also said that in that game, Jesses little brother put up 38 points against him and that just about everyone agrees hes the better of the two.
