I think I'd rather be hung by my toes and beaten until I lose consciousness with an organic carrot then to have to watch Liberty go through another year of this.

that's not a good solution at all. You're hurting more than just him by not going. The best solution is to let it play out. If he's not getting it done, he will eventually be gone. If he does get it done, he will stay.

Agreed. Fans deliberately not supporting the team hurts the players and the image of the university far more than it actually hurts the coach.

DOX - Whenever you start to present actual FACTS to back up your arguments, then we can have a logical discussion. The only "evidence" you present is laden with "if" and "but's" and "we don't know's". I am positive no one here feels they know what JB and especially what JF is thinking. You say they MAY have different expectations than those on the board who would like to see a change. That obviously leads to the fact that they may have the SAME expectations of those same people.
The "purpose" of this thread is for someone to make a case for Dunton. So far the only argument we have from you is: We don't know what the people who make the decisions are thinking (Which according to the NandA is SOLEY JB ha ha) and that they MIGHT not make the decision that some on the board want.
In counter to that others have presented facts and precedents that don't look as flattering. To those facts you just regurgitate the "We don't know..." spin again and again. It would be nice, difficult but nice, to see if there are facts that make a case for keeping RD.
As for calling me some sort of arrogant, female, sensitive poster with an apparent suicidal tendency, it just adds more and more to your credibility on ANY topic sports related.

I should have said: condescendence.
condescend |?känd??send| verb [ intrans. ] show feelings of superiority; patronize : take care not to condescend to your reader. • do something in a haughty way, as though it is below one's dignity or level of importance : we'll be waiting for twenty minutes before she condescends to appear. Haize:

A List of Actual Facts in support of RD for my friend Haize:

1. Randy Dunton has proven that he can rebuild because he did it from '02-04.
2. Randy Dunton has proven that he can win a Big South title because he did it in '03-04.
3. RD has been instrumental in recruiting many of LU's top all-time players and can do it again.

Obviously, the last year and a half have not been good and the win/loss record over this time period works against him.

Like it or not, there are some unknowns that will play into this whole thing. That's just reality and we may not like it, but we have to deal with it nonetheless.

The three biggest unknowns to date:

1. What were the expectations of the AD and the Chancellor going into this season?
2. Has the AD or Chancellor or both lost confidence in Dunton at this point?
3. Does the adminsitration believe that a Big South title looks promising for '07 with Dunton?

I imagine that they'll keep a close eye on how this thing finishes and gauge the momentum, good or bad, heading into next season. If the administration believes that the outlook for next season is promising, then he will be given another opportunity.

Keep in mind, this is not a personal thing for the AD or the Chancellor as it is for most people on this message board. They won't terminate him in order to spank him for the last two years. If he's let go, it will be because they feel that LU won't contend for the title next year.

The last time we won, I was recovering (16 days past) from bi-lateral knee replacement.

(I was also still in my 50's)

I see a national championship in the offing.

DOX - You actaully made some points. I am a little misty eyed. I would however, point out that we have not won a regular season Big South title under RD, but have one a Tournament one. That is a difference, especially considering that the team that won the regular season was not allowed to play the tournament. The other disagreements will come with the ability to rebuild. As I said, if you are going to rebuild something, it sort of should stay built. Thus the whole point of the process. Some of the greatest players of All Time at LU?? Hmmmm, that can be called a team effort. I am sure he was not a one man show when he was under Meyer, nor is he one now. And also you are forgetting some of the "old hags" that were pretty solid, Hess, and to a MUCH lesser extent SCAR.
But there is joy in Mudville after a hard fought win against CSU. Kill the fatted calf and bring in the dancing girls. (Preferably from Winthrop or Radford!!)

I don't know what your major is, dickens, but have you heard of those stupid, idiotic preachers who opted out of S.S. ?

Anyway, I've got the retirement thing all figured out: - I'll be fine ... I just work until I'm 90, and then kick back.

Haize:

In '05 Birmingham Southern actually had a better team than they did in '04 and they were the overwhelming consensous favorite to win the Big South and they fell flat on their faces. They couldn't win it in '05, so why would they have won it in '04?

Had BSC been eligible for the true title in '04, which is the ticket to the dance, teams would have approached them differently because there would have been more at stake, especially head-to-head, and also with regard to tournement seeding. Also, LU was 3-1 against BSC during BCS's supposedly dominant '03-04 and '04-05 seasons. So, why should we cheapen LU's '04 title?

In conclusion, LU in the most dominating performance in Big South conference finals history, won the title in '04 by a margin of 45 points! No matter how hard anyone trys, they won it, and no one can take that one away from Dunton and the Flames.
