Yea, Smoothy was hanging out by himself in the nosebleeds, and I invited him down with my crew. Good talking round ball with you tonight, Smoothy! Join us anytime. We both loved the sign about how SCAR was better than Dicky V.

A few highlights from that article:

"Liberty won despite shooting only 16.7 (5-of-30) from beyond the arc. Overall, the Flames were successful on 41.3 percent (26-of-63) from the floor.

Curry, tournament MVP, finished with 21 points on 9-of-19 shooting. The freshman played 50 minutes in the contest, tying a program record for minutes played. Mike Minett was the last Flame to play 50 minutes in a game, when he did on Feb. 10, 1986, four years prior to Curry’s birth.
Smith scored a team-high 22 points and pulled down 10 caroms for his fifth career double-double. Ohman chipped in 13 points, while Sanders grabbed eight rebounds and chipped in 11 points.

Sanders and Smith joined Curry on the all-tournament team."

I remember the game whem Minett played all 50 minutes in the 2OT win over Longwood at the old Liberty Gym. That was the team which "featured" Gary Yoder; the walkon with the red fro who basically went from being one of the LUnatics (1985 version) to the starting lineup in a year.

I don't think this W&M fan watched the same game that we did:
There's a reason Liberty beat UVA by two at Virginia...they are a very good team with strong inside game and...they're killing us on the boards.

Mike ... Mi-NETT ... Uh!

Mike ... Mi-NETT ... Uh!

Now there is a name I hadn't heard in awhile. With Seth looking like he will reqrite the record books I have a feeling there will be many more Old Hag names appearing soon.

Wow I used to look up to Minnett when I was a freshman. He was a class act. That Mike Minnett chant will forever be in my head. It was bone chilling. I always wanted the crowd to do one like that for me

I had a blast doing that game last night though...I had some memorable quotes too from what I am reading on this thread. "I'll bet that Hurt like the Dickens" is one that made me laugh myself.

Gutsy performance by Sanders and Curry but we don't win this game without James Spencer, Bill Weaver and Johnny Stephene playing well in the OT period. Wow what a finish! Can't wait for George Mason tomorrow night!

Weaver seemed to fill in right where Brolin left off.

Scar & others, were we running a 1-3-1 zone defense for part of the game? It looked like we had Brolin or Weaver defending the top of the key, with 3 defenders in the middle, with either Smith or Ohman guarding the low post.

I really hope Brolin isn't hurt bad because everything seemed to click for him last night and you could see he was about to turn the corner.

I'm sure that this has probably been mentioned, but I remember many preseason comments that left real question marks about how our defense would be this year. After this game, I think many doubts have been erased. If these kids make a habit of playing like they did against UVa and WM, we will surely have a lot of fun this year and for the next several.

It is nice to have a BB team at team that is fun to watch and plays with heart- For too long, when I wanted to see a good well-rounded LU team, I'd have to watch my tape of the LU-UNC game from the tourney. The tape is pretty much worn out!

Monday's fishwrap article about the tournament, written by someone other than Lang. Why is Mitchell Malcheff writing about us? Is Lang on vacation?
Despite poor shooting from Curry in regulation, he came up clutch in overtime, scoring 13 of his 21 points in the final 10 minutes to lead the Flames to an 80-74 victory in the championship game of the Liberty Thanksgiving Classic.

Curry was forced to carry the overtime load after Anthony Smith fouled out with 2:42 left in the second half. On top of that, guard Brolin Floyd left the game with just over seven minutes remaining after falling hard and injuring his right ankle. Despite the absence of two of the Flames’ starters, Smith was confident that Curry and fellow freshman Jesse Sanders were up to the challenge.

“I knew they were going to pull it out. They’re strong-willed and they’re winners,” Smith said.

Correct. We originally were going to have a stringer for the Gardner-Webb game, too, but with William Campbell losing, I'm not needed for a state championship game Saturday, so I'll be at the Vines.

Minnie was a great pure shooter. The chant was a classic!
