Speaking of dollars...

Weren't we paying RMK something ridiculous like three times what Dunton was making? That's probably somewhere in the neighborhood of $300 to $450k per year.

Bennett is getting $1.7 million. No way the assistants are pulling in $300,000, right? Maybe $300,000 -- tops. I don't think McKay would take a paycut to leave Lynchburg, but this has to be a lateral move in terms of that.

And ATrain is right, a job as an assistant coach in a big conference is usually a stepping stone to a job coaching a low major squad... Hmmm....

As for the Gregg Marshall thing -- he's at lowly Wichita State because he turned down an offer from CoC. And he was such an arrogant blank-hole that South Carolina didn't hire him when they had a vacancy.

He is still an assistant at Washington

Are we not allowed to get an assistant? is that some rule?

Firstly, why would the SEC be put on a list of Basketball conferences...they are not that good at basketball. I always thought that McKay was an overrated job hopper.

I think you guys really need to think about your next hire. High Point landed a coach that I think could end up being very good. Enough of this hiring of ex-coaches. I like the idea of going with the alumni route. That of course has its own limits. If Eddie left today, one alum we have is Byron Samuels (he is an assistant South Florida now) :?

Sure you still run the risk of the coach not being good, but at least they would be more committed to the school than others.

Anyway, good luck with the search.

I think he was stating where Dollar still is, providing a fact. Others on that list are HCs at Grambling and Tennessee St. since it was released 2 years ago.

Have you ever been so enraged that you just want to get something on paper (or in this case, make a post) as quickly as you could? That's why I said that -- and since we're already up to 400+ posts, I didn't want to sift through every one of them... sorry if you felt put-off by the 'someone' comment. No offense.

If roundball is your blood, this is the place to discuss the Flames led by Coach Ritchie McKay

You can edit that now. And why would Jason Allison want to come back to the school that Ritchie McKay told him "You aren't welcome here anymore"? So is he welcome back now? I hope he comes on here and reads what FlamesFilmGuy said about him and Duggar after the last game we played ya'll in L-burg. Then again, if he recruits kids that can do well from VMI in the Big South, then imagine what he could do with a school like yours.

I give up at LU basketball. Is Bob Knight looking for a job? And is it possible for him to clean up his language?

Oh, SNAP! There, does that make you feel better, Ed? I swear, it's like talking to a little old lady who can't see or hear anything beyond the range of her bifocals.

Fine, throw the Big East in there. Throw the Pac-10 conference in there while you're at it b/c you're entirely missing the point of what I was saying, namely that any of those jobs are infinitely better positions than any job in the Big South.

Bob Knight would need to clean up his whole act, not just his language. He would find a kindred spirit for his leisure time hobbies in our WBB coach.

#1) I said we should have hired Bob Knight back in 2002.
#2) Clean up his language? That wasn't a problem for our last head coach (errr, second-to-last head coach).

Yes, yes it does make me feel better.

(Heyyyyy, I had a lousy day. My school's basketball head coach turned out to be a slimeball. We all thought he had honor and dignity. We were wrong. Can you cut me a break? I'll offer an apology for being snappy...)

Funny you are trying to call me out on this. but my reasons for not wanting JA as a head coach have nothing to do with his actions at that game.

If you really think ANY assistant's job at a power conference is better than a head coaching job in the Big South then I have some stock in GMC I'd like to sell you.
