No wonder they beat the crap out of us last night, they've been hypnotized. They're channeling Michael Jordan for crying out loud.

I'll agree that leaving the starters in the whole game was a a little unusual, but come one, we're a rivalry, and this is just the kind of thing that heats it up. I like that. Besides that, we played lousy and deserved to get it handed to us. I have no complaint. Maybe the players will think again before sleepwalking through a game.

I can't imagine what they're thinking, telling their fellow supporters of the team to sit down.
Sitting down is fine. I'm sure when you sit down you still cheer and are involved in the game. There's no problem with that.

And yes, I've talked to people tactfully about this. At away games in the past (Coastal this year for example) I told the person I was in my spot in my seat and was choosing to stand. When he said he paid money to see the game too and wanted to sit I said I paid just as much and wanted to stand. I politely told him there were plenty of other seats and that me and my friends would be standing the entire time so if he wanted to move, he could. He got mad at us and told us we were horrible people, dropped a couple words that can't be said on here, and left.

Jon, Go with the flow. If the majority of the people around you are sitting old people, then SIT. If the people around you are standing STAND, you dont have to be the "I am gonna get this party started guy" at every arena. You have definately got the party started some what at the Vines, but that being said, It is our place and our STUDENT SECTION. As other people have said, Cameron, Dean Dome, Jon Paul Jones, RBC center, at all these places I have been to EVERYONE, except students normally SIT DOWN until given something to cheer about. The Vines is no different. I thought it was tasteless to go over to the other side and stand in front of people who have set down all year long. Not so tactfully done .

Our section sits the entire game at Duke games...I think it's because some of the people in front of us have pockets that are to heavy though

I understand. I dont know why they asked you to stand in front of people. But, I agree that more of our efforts as fans could be directed at encouraging our team to do good, not bashing refs, bashin the other team, ( these are both needed and fun) but the majority of people only cheer when Smitty dunks or seth makes a three, Lets do a better job of being proactive and not just reacitve.

After reading this, I realized that my post towards you was meant more about the away game you were mentioning. If you go to some one elses arena, Dont stand in front of their payin fan. IMO thats a Jack@55 thing to do.

to the person talking about CCU

you need to realize myrtle beach has been invaded by hordes of yankees in the last 20 years. I have expeirence first hand at our Football games security threatening to throw me out if i stood, and that wasnt in the student section but in my season ticket location. The old yankee farts complain and b*itch if you stand. We had a student arrested one game for cheering(in the student section no less!!!!!), as well as our tailgating almost completely banned because someone complained. I am sorry this happened to you but its happening to us as students and the locals.

When i went to the app state playoff game a old ccu fan was there as well, i was on the front row of the stadium and he with his 5 year old was on the 2nd. Now the thing is, he kept yelling at us to sit down but as we are students we didnt sit. He actually physically struck me and another person because we wouldnt sit. I would have had his jerk arrested but of course theres never a cop when you need one  . Long story short we had offered him a seat in the front row for him or his grandchild, he refused.

I want you to know its not the locals in MB/Conway or the ACTUAL ccu fans that are like this. Its the snide jerk yankees down here trashing us and treating us like crap in our own home. Most of them are from new jersey and ohio

i havent read this whole thread, cause im sick and i dont want to... but why is it Duggar or VMI's fault if our guys quit playing? its our job to stop them just like its their job to score right? Its not their fault we gave up. I lost a lot of respect for RMK after what i saw last night, love the fire, but just shut up. You got a good ol' fashion whoopin... Man up and accept responsibility. VMI is coming off a home loss on their senior night and might have needed to make a statement, but even if they didnt, we quit anyway. So what?

Ron didn't personally ask me. An alumni officer, on behalf of the alumni association, asked. They also asked us to be in some video that we did. Knowing that Ron is a big fan of us (and technically a member) I assumed it was ran through him and approved.

Do you think the guys who asked you to sit down would appreciate it more if you yelled F**K you Singler(or insert opposing teams players name) in unison on ESPN like the Maryland student section just did. You could hear it clear for like 5 seconds and the ESPN announcers just sat silent

If I'm in a Liberty section and bought a ticket, I'll stand if I want to. If it's just me with one or two people, I sit until something happens. But if we take a group (like to ODU or VMI) we stand.

Why we don't call it for what it was. A big game that VMI came into our house and burnt it to ashes. Then left town with the spoils. A #2 seed locked up.

All the crying won't put the spilt milk back in the bottle.

My children came home today to say that their teacher said how embarrassed she was to attend the LU game because the LU coach had to be restrained by two officials from going at the VMI bench when they were getting destroyed.

But there is more ball to be played so maybe Sat will can go to Radford and upset Greenberg.

we can hash this out and over analyze all of this. The bottom line is we either get Jesse back and make some kind of adjustment going forward and have success or we make no adjustments and maybe win one game in the tourney and go home. Sports is all about making adjustments and we certainly did not make any. Ritchie has really got to go back to the drawing board this week and get in some of these guys faces. Brolin, Johnny, and Tyler reallllllly need to grow a pair and quit playing scared. They have all three showed flashes this year and it's so frustrating to watch players waiting on others to do it all. We should have just played 3 on 5 last night all game long, we pretty much did. I would venture a guess that if you go back and watch the tape 75% of the time these guys just defer and wait for Seth to do everything. We need some more guys with that fearlessness in them like Jesse, Ohman, and Seth have. I was not a fan of Ohman at all until the last 2 months or so. But man that guy competes and shows grit, frustration, and determination. Even up until about a month ago I wasn't convinced that Johnny and Jesse were almost even. The more you watch these guys the more you have to appreciate guys like Ohman and Jesse who seem to get every last bit they can out of their God given abilities. That being said I hope there is some way that the staff can toughen these guys up and have them bounce back from such a dissappointing effot last night.

as far as getting folks to stand and clap. It's like that almost everywhere, I have been to a ton of Tech and UVA games and their fans (especially UVA) are basically just there for the social aspect. Any raucous atmosphere will rely heavily on the students to create the atmosphere. If your hoping for the older fans to do much more than show up and occasionally clap when we go on a run your probably wasting your time.

And?

We beat VMI, who beat Kentucky.

We beat UVA, who beat Tech who beat Wake who beat UNC.

What's any of that mean? Really. You tell me, I'd like to know what that means.

RD's final year he lost to St. Francis of PA who lost to Akron by 35.

RD's final year he lost to Longwood who lost to NJIT.

What's any of that even mean?

Not to mention, using your faulty little transitive property, we're better than ODU, since we beat William and Mary by more than that. But you don't remember that since it was a win, eh?
