CSU 72
G-W 61

Free Throws:

CSU: 23-29 79.3%
G-W: 8-13 61.5%

Pretty much the difference in the game, although Warren went on a hot streak for them in the second half and ended up with 20. Moore led us with 16.

Can we pull another upset in Conway a week from this evening? Who knows at this point.

Trivia nugget...that was our first loss to CSU in conference play since we joined the league, we are now 5-1 over three seasons against them.

Asheville and CSU now the frontrunners for the 3-4 spots. Asheville will lock up the 3 by winning twice at home. CSU would lock up the 4 by beating Coastal at home Saturday. Winthrop and VMI cannot get home games without help.

Let's say the top four end up:
1. CCU
2. LU
3. UNCA
4. CSU

Does anyone here think all four seeds will hold into round two? IMO, CSU would be the most vulnerable, especially if they draw WU in the first round.

Do you think we will see any fallout from the Holloway situation prior to the tournament next week? if Coastal has to vacate any games it will have an effect on the tournament seeding

If it did, Coastal would pretty much have to forfeit the entire year since he played in most, if not all, of their games. That would bump LU to #1, then you would get Radford, while G-W would travel over to UNCA more than likely.

I don't think the NCAA will move that quick however. We're stuck going to Conway, and y'all likely get to host dangerous HPU in round one.

This thing is now up for grabs and I like our chances. We need to put the hammer down on WU tomorrow night. I believe we will come out with our hair on fire and fully intense.

Unfortunately, I think The BS is now playing for a 15 or 16 seed.

No offense, but it's hard to even take a guess because we don't know who they're playing! :D

I like UNCA at 3. They're pretty dangerous. Also, watch out for Winthrop. I know they've had a rough year, but they know how to turn it on in the tourney (see last year).

Oh and the buzzerbeater that won the game by Matt Dickey is on ESPN sportscenter. The Coastal fans were right, it was a terrible pass.

Terrible pass is an understatement, you have to get that ball past halfcourt. Dickey made a great play, you have to give him credit. If you look on his shot, he nearly came all the way back down on the floor before releasing the ball.

Cunningham was out again last night ... still can't pin down a reason. I'd assume the knee is acting up, but I'm not sure. He played three minutes against Northeastern, but he hasn't played in Asheville's last three Big South games.

I didn't know that. Maybe he's being saved for the tourney?

Quote aside, Cowherd is a pure d-----bag.

We woke up in the second half and figured out Radford's zone and won 71-63. Radford only dressed 10 players....I'd feel bad for them if Greenburg wasn't such a jerk.

I saw where Barbour went for 32 for HPU in a losing effort, I'd assume we'll put Buggs on him exclusively Saturday.

To say y'all have a must win situation Saturday in Calvinistville is an understatement...losing four straight heading into the tourney can't be spun positively I wouldn't think....

In a perfect world, the NCAA would rule by Tuesday. It's not a perfect world. They will not rule in time, coastal will get the 1 seed and will proceed to lose. What a mess.

Let the record, show I was telling others on this board two years ago that I expected these results by now or in the not too distant future.

As far as we are concerned, the NCAA really has a couple of weeks to decide. If they make a decision by Selection Sunday, we could have the NIT bid sewed up regardless of the outcome of the Big South Tourney. It gets ticklish if CCU competes and wins the tourney and then they have to vacate the auto bid. Who would it be given to? The new regular season champ or the tourney runner-up. The former makes more sense since it would be earned over a season. Theoretically the tourney runner-up would have same loss to CCU as others from quarterfinals & semifinals. Should a team be punished just for playing Chants sooner rather than later? I don't know. But this is a mess of epic proportions for CCU, NCAA and especially the Big South.

REPORTED LAST SUMMER? man the NCAA is pathetic.

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Coastal Carolina reported violations regarding its men's basketball team to the NCAA last summer.

A statement from the university to The Associated Press on Friday said the allegations were brought to the school's attention before the season began and President David DeCenzo ordered them turned over to the NCAA.

The New York Times reported the focus of the NCAA's investigation is possible illegal benefits that former player Marcus Macellari said were given to other players.

Coastal Carolina's leading scorer, Desmond Holloway, was indefinitely suspended this month while the NCAA looked into his eligibility. The Chanticleers (25-4) close the regular season at Charleston Southern on Saturday.

Let me be clear. The NCAA won't rule on Coastal until years down the road, when it doesn't matter anymore. Look at any NCAA investigation and see how long it takes. Look at Reggie Bush and how long that took.

From a poster on the Coastal board:
If it turns out that Des accepted money from Ellis (or any coach), they will carry some blame, but this Marcellari kid will be public enemy #1 in my book.
