I like it because he could bring in 'non traditional' LU kids because of his background. We could get some serious talent from players given a second chance. And he'd have the Cred to do it without people second guessing what he was doing. He just shot to #2 on my list

Threw this bone out there a few pages ago. Dave Davis is an excellent coach and Newberry fans love him. He's recruited well there and has a great record to show for it.

He is a fantastic coach but I would have never expected him to land here.

The fact that we have already hired a search firm means two things:

1) We've known this was coming for a while.
2) We're likely already talking to potential candidates.

I agree with #1 but not #2.

'Forming a committee' would give more credence to #2 IMO

How can we have Jordan mentioned as a candidate and not have the obvious guy sitting next to him on that bench not mentioned? Is Jeff considered too old? Or is he using his connections with our administration to push Lavall's candidacy?

I think we can safely assume that Jason Allison is definitely interested. Ritchie would certainly be a most interesting proposition. But we have discussed both of these guys ad nauseum. Frankly I am liking nearly every name being tossed around at this stage. I still think we will have a big brand name guy with lesser college credentials emerge as a candidate at some point in the process.

My pipe dream would be Mike Young as head coach with Jason as his top assistant.

I fail to see the similarities between Moton and RMK. Ritchie had a long track record of leaving after a few years. Moton had regular jobs for 8 years after college, then coached 3 years at one HS and came to his Alma Mater as an assistant in 2007 before being named HC in 2010. His record at NC Central is impressive to say the least, and if not for the fact that he played ball and graduated from NCC I can't think of a single reason he wouldn't jump at the LU job if offered.
