He probably looked at the story that says Buzz left Marquette for Tech and he thought 'Marquette is in Milwaukee. Milwaukee is in Wisconsin. I'm from Wisconsin. What a small world'
He didn't want it before. Why would he want it now? Especially after all he's done this year. But I will say its consistent with the other drivel you come on here spouting. So THAT doesn't surprise me .

We're talking about a coach for whom money will be FAR from the deciding factor. So, you need to find another reason.

UVA will ante up soon enough, anyway.

The new Big East ain't what the old one used to be. I think that is a big reason why Buzz moved. You are right about the money Marquette pours into MBB. But I agree with whoever said it before that U of Wisconsin is the only job that could really give him pause.

That may be what hypothetical Tony Bennett is thinking, but I have a feeling the real-life Tony Bennett probably thinks of having Buzz and Shaka in the same state as a challenge and an opportunity. That's what makes guys like him different from guys like most of us.

Oh yeah, and now that I have contributed to it, I might mention that this discussion has gone WAAAAAAAAY :offtopic

We are in a low-end D1 conference. That does not actually make us a mid-major. I know that most people just call all non major conference in D1 mid-majors but that doesn't even make sense. Really we would or should be considered a low-major. Though that term never gets used it really does describe us much more accurately at this point.

So that's why the League gets 16 seeds or the play in game...

The Big South gets crapped on because it is mostly made up of women colleges and tiny small gyms. All programs have to prostitute themselves for sake off other sports so therefore take a beating in Nov & Dec. raising funds to pay Abbott bus company.

If your team isn't a BCS level program, your low major. Except for VCU, Wichita, Gonzaga. Not many other than those.

UVA couldn't score 60 last night huh??? Take the money & run Tony B!!! You'll be sorry in 4 years.

Not a UVa fan, but it is a much higher profile school than Marquette, and it has much deeper pockets.

The ACC is much higher profile than the Big East. But the Marquette program has been much higher profile than UVa hoops for decades. And Marquette's pockets are pretty deep since they don't have the football expenditures dragging on their bottom line.

With all of that said, I don't see Bennett jumping right now to anywhere unless he senses a massive jump off his roster coming in the offseason. He has worked to hard to get things back flying in Charlottesville.

At Marquette: new president, new provost, new AD. I forget which, by one of those are set to retire at end of year. And the other two are out. That plus less quality Big East is more than enough to send an elite coach packing.

Given all that, I think Marquette is going to struggle a bit trying to match the quality of new coach to the quality of the one it just lost.

Time to let this one die, or someone to kill it off.
You're right in saying that we obviously aren't making a coaching change for at the very least another year, but the last 25 posts or so on this thread have had nothing to do with the topic anyway. I would think a discussion of the Marquette position should go in the Non-LU Sports forum.

TB wont leave UVa for any job unless he decides to try the NBA and that included the Badgers. Never saw him or Smart going to MU either. Schools is headed downward now in a so-so league, crummy city and school having trouble attracting students. Bo might consider retirement next year. Most of this team comes back and should be better and even more up tempo. Scoring talent at all positions. Final Four Baby--Go Badgers.
