i got a little carried away and reduced myself to the level of others so i apologize for reducing to the level of those who consistently pour negatives on our coach and team. but yes this raks second in my opinion to the ladies virginia win in major team victories. this ecu team came in shooting the ball well and left knowing that lu is not going to give up easy baskets. so time will tell if we continue to defend.
alex 17pts. and 11 rebs plus bj with 12pts 3asst and 3 steals is big verses a c-usa team. but shame on those who would act like this wasn't d1 comp and believe me ecu wanted the win but the guys found a way to win and that is a big shot in the arm for the flames.

once again thanks for tuning in on Saturday night. It was fun as usual to call the game. I did get a shout out in Sly, I guess you missed it buddy. There's always tomorrow night though. I missed a couple of others I wanted to get in though. The game moves so fast. Baldspot and others, thanks for the kind words. It really does mean a lot to me that you guys don't think I stink . Big win for the Flames. A step in the right direction. The boys could have quit and let ECU run them out of the gym but they had resolve and hung tight. Good win in my opinion. I think the defense was well prepared for what they were going to see ECU do. I sat in on the film session on Saturday (one of the many they had that week I am sure) and it was thorough. I felt like I knew what ECU was doing as well. Sly, good catch on the Liberty channel free feed. I checked it over Thanksgiving and watched a little bit of Doug Oldham. When I went to it yesterday though it was down so I figured they were blacking it out. Glad you found your way in. I wanted to tell my father in law before he paid for it but I was too late. I don't know how GMTM gets on here when calling a game. I got on during halftime and tried to read a few things but no way could I do that during the game. I guess he is a better multitasker? Great tribute to Hess. Long overdue. Too bad most folks don't remember him that were in the audience. He should have gotten a 5 minute ovation for what he means to the program. Sly good catch about Ray calling them Eastern Carolina. I told him he was doing it during a timeout and he didn't believe me at first. I thought maybe I was hearing things then but you confirmed it. I know they hate to be called that though. ECUPirates fan, thanks for tuning in and I wish you guys much success. I think Stokes has brought in some serious talent and will continue to attract them. My main man Mack MacCarthy will keep everything in order as well. Great guy. He is a good TV analyst too but way too good of a coach to be doing what I do.

Wow, what a heart fealt apology. Seriously, I am tearing up a little. Even feeling a little vahklempt. Of course now you have placed SHAME on people who said this wasn't D1 competition. As I look back, I see no one saying that ECU wasn't a D1 team. Cincy Christian, Houghton, SVC yes, but not ECU. So it appears as though your "Curse of Shame" is for naught. Better luck next time.
And OUTSTANDING insight on the ECU mental make up. Who knew they wanted to win? I never would have guessed it. What with that big lead they went out to and all. I thought they were playing Rope a Dope, just acting like they wanted to win. Glad to know they actually did.

Have to get up early in the morning to pull one over on the ole Medic. It was pretty funny. BUT such is the nature of coaching. Now if we had threads about Paramedics, Salesmen, Pastors etc. that would be pretty funny.

Coach getting up there will do absolutely nothing. I was talking to people at the show last night between sets about the basketball team and I had freshmen saying that they simply didn't like him. Like I've said all along, I'm trying my best to get excited about this team and if things keep going the way they are with my school work now, I should be able to go to the game tomorrow night. The ONLY thing that's going to get kids out to these games is winning. There's nothing Coach can do other than have his team keep winning.

I will never understand why people don't like Coach D...I have liked him even before the whole Big South Championship thing freshmen year...that being said if he isn't like Jeff Barber could show up in convo to promote the team..something has got to be at least tried anyways....

and you are right SJ, winning is the only thing that will truly help...but they need to at least let the students know about things....
