The GA's in the AD deserve alot of credit (Especially the guys from Athletic Facilities). They were there just about every day trying to get them in on time.

The national high school class of 2008 hasn't had the immediate, flashy impact so far in its first season of college hoops as did its counterparts from the previous two years.

Those were the first two classes to fall under the NBA's ban on players going immediately to the NBA draft after wrapping up prep eligibility.
Here is where Seth comes in ...
A month into this season, only one freshman is among the top 50 scorers in the nation.

Six-foot-one Seth Curry is averaging 21.4 points, 2.4 assists and 4.9 rebounds per game, while shooting .406 from behind the arc, for Coach Ritchie McKay's 6-2 Liberty team.

And Curry wasn't a McDonald's All-American or a particularly touted recruit, although — unless you haven't paid any attention to college hoops recently — you may have heard of his older brother.

Seth Curry, Your Thoughts?

Image

Seth Curry is Stephen Curry's little brother and they are both sons of Dell Curry. I BET YOU DID NOT KNOW THAT!! Ok you probably did. A couple of days ago Seth did an interview with ESPN's "First Take". If you avoid the show like the plague like I do you probably did not catch it, especially since it was the soulless one Skip Bayless and fraulein Jamele Hill on the 1st and 10 segment. Some of the questions are pretty inane, but it is an interesting dynamic between the three Currys and there is even some old footage of Dell in the Charlotte Coliseum jacking it up.

Hoops World wrote:The Currying Will Continue: Davidson star point guard Stephen Curry has given no indication as to whether or not he plans on entering the NBA draft this season. It's logical, considering his strong upbringing, that he finishes out his degree and plays his fourth and final season at Davidson. However, should Stephen be unable to pass on the NBA draft for another year we don't have to worry about the Curry magic disappearing.

Starting at Liberty this year is Stephen's little brother Seth Curry, and all he's doing eight games into his collegiate career is averaging 21 points, five rebounds, and two assists a game. Like his brother the big schools were behind on his recruitment. After his junior season only one ACC school, Virginia Tech, offered him a scholarship. VT's offer came with a freshmen year as a redshirt attached to it though, and Seth decided to pass and go to the school that wanted him the most and presented him an opportunity to play immediately: Liberty.

Seth possesses the same incredible instincts that his older brother does. Like Stephen he has a knack for scoring the ball and a calm cool demeanor. Last March Stephen Curry made a lot of high major schools kicking themselves for passing up on him, and they will be doing the same thing once they have to go up against his younger brother Seth. Seth didn't want to live in his brother's shadow at Davidson, who also recruited him, because he has aspirations of accomplishing the same things he has at the mid-major level. Going to Liberty has given him the opportunity to create his own legacy, which could end being
better than Stephen's when it's all said and done.

A couple of statistical notes on Seth from kenpom.com:

Seth is 27th in the nation in "% of Possible Minutes Played", playing 90.1% of the minutes he could have potentially played.

He is 31st in the nation in "% Shots", or in other words, percentage of the shots taken by the team that are taken by the player while in the game.

He is 432nd in the nation in the "Effective FG %" category. This category adjusts overall FG percentage to account for the difficulty and extra reward of a three pointer. Seth's eFG% is 53.3, but he isn't the best on the team. Kyle, Smitty, and Jesse all have better eFG's, and Johnny Stephene, although he doesn't make the minimum number of shots, is actually on pace to be top 100 in the country... as is James Spencer, but I doubt James will be able to put up enough shots to be anywhere near this discussion later on in the year.

Probably the best stat on Seth tho: He is 120th in the nation in Turnover Rate. The stat takes into consideration the number of possesions that result in a turnover for the player. His number is at 10.5, and kenpom says anything under 15% is great, and that those who handle the ball should usually be up around 20-25% due to the nature of their positions.

Stephen's younger brother Seth leads Liberty

All it took was three plays at a high school spring game for Liberty coach Ritchie McKay to offer a scholarship.

And just like that, another Curry had flown under the radar.

One season after unheralded Stephen Curry led Davidson to the Elite Eight in the NCAA tournament, his little brother Seth is a freshman at Liberty and is making college coaches wonder how they let another one get away.

Luckily for Seth Greenberg, Dell and Sonya Curry only had two sons.

The Virginia Tech head coach took plenty of heat for his inability to land former Hokies star Dell Curry's first-born, Stephen, a year ago when the Davidson star guard was tearing through one high-major after another in the NCAA tournament.

Seth Curry leads all freshmen in scoring at 21.4 points per game. (Liberty University / Special to FOXSports.com)

Now it's happening again — with Stephen's kid brother, Seth, the lone freshman in the D-1 ranks whose name resides among the nation's top 50 scorers.

Instead of redshirting his freshman season at Virginia Tech or standing squarely in his brother's shadow at Davidson, Seth opted to play at Liberty University, the small religious school located in Lynchburg, Va., founded by Jerry Falwell.

"It was a token offer," Seth Curry said of the Hokies interest.

"An offer is an offer," said Greenberg.

Seth Curry is becoming a scoring machine at Liberty College in Virginia. He is Stephen Cury’s brother and according to Steph Curry, Seth has the potential to be even better.

Like I said in this thread or another anyone "We were just referred to as Liberty College a few years ago, and now people are saying we've being over exposed???" whoever said they are getting sick of the coverage is nuts...not everyone follows sports as much as those who follow it so much they are on a message board with thousands of posts about it  so every new article or video clip is introducing 1 more average fan to what we have going on...

and I'm convinced until we are known to EVERYONE as Liberty University and not Liberty College then we need to keep pumping out the PR

My favorite part: "When a head coach recruits a player, that tells you something," said the elder Curry, who is the director of player development for the Charlotte Bobcats. "He told his assistants, 'Don't worry about Seth, I'm going to recruit him,' and then he went out and recruited him like an assistant. At one point, it seemed like everyone I knew in Charlotte was talking to me about Coach McKay and what type of person he was."

Great find, BJ. Another great quote from the article:
"he has a gear that I've never seen before."

McKay also had religion on his side. The Currys are devout Christians, and Seth and Stephen attended Charlotte Christian School. Liberty, which was founded by the late evangelist Jerry Falwell, has hopes of being the nation's foremost Christian-based college.

McKay spent the 1989-90 season as an assistant at Charlotte's Queens College. He had longtime friends from the Charlotte area call Curry's father, Dell - who played 15 seasons in the NBA - to vouch for his character.

With all the attention his older brother, Stephen, has received at Davidson, it's hard to imagine how Seth Curry flew under the radar of college basketball recruiters.

The younger Curry isn't playing in the Atlantic Coast Conference, the Big East or some other power league. He's at Liberty University, better known for its founder -- Jerry Falwell -- than its basketball.
