You don't go into any game or any posession planning on taking X number of 3's. You can be deliberate in your attack but you just want to take open, high percentage shots that the defense gives you. The way the defense is playing us, we have open threes that we can hit. If you don't have good shooters then yes you might not want to take that many but the way we shoot, we are ok.

and the VMI defense, as has anyone else who has run the same type of system they do, has been known for 3 years now that they will give you high percentage two point shots and will foul you with regularity if you go to the basket...

I think a team that jacks up that many 3 pointers is used to not being at the FT line as much.

I agree that they give up easy shots sometimes but they are playing a little different than they have the past 2 years.

they are still allowing teams to shoot well over 50% against them on two point shots, 55.98% to be exact. last year it was 57.03%. This year they are allowing 19.0 free throw attempts, last year 20.1. so the difference is marginal at best...
