You took my bait!! :)

How easy was that to pick - Feenstra and McDougal - No brainers!! Is Aluma in their class? I don't think so.

Aluma a great player. McDougal and Feenstra - superior players/athletes.

Even Jennings wouldn't go in mine - not yet anyway. It has to be the elite of the elite for it to hold any credibility. I'm sure the BSC has stretched to include all the schools - I think they shouldn't - if you not considered one of the best in the Country - you shouldn't have anyone in it - you have to earn it.

Proto, I totally agree that both Katie and Josh are much more "automatic" picks than Peter. There appears to be some sort of waiting period for these selections. Based on the selections made, I'm guessing 10 years after their career is completed. With that in mind, I think Peter is as good a choice as any to represent LU. Josh, Katie, Larry Blair and possibly Megan Frazee should go in as soon as eligible IMHO. Assuming the 10 year thing that would be a while. I'd have to do some research to see who might be coming up soon from that era. It won't be a MBB player, since we would be getting into a dark period there. :(

Heather Sagan Zeland will be in there...she's the first Big South national champion in anything. I think Aluma deserves to be in there, if you get to be the top scorer in the conference you deserve to be in there.

It could happen   :P

As for Aluma's work ethic I can honestly say that some on the staff tried to push him hard and some kind of coddled him a little. I won't dare mention any names because that may start a fight on this board. I do know that it is up to the individual to be motivated enough to excel. Is anyone saying Kobe or Garnett aren't playing hard? No because they know what it takes. One of my friends Doug Overton played 14 years in the NBA not because he was the best player. He wasn't even the best player at his high school, college or even our neighborhood but I don't know anyone who worked on their game more than Doug. He won't go into the NBA Hall of fame but he made a ton of money doing what he loved and was in a position that so many would trade to be in. Aluma wasn't driven like that plain and simple. It was a reflection of us on the staff but Pete has to take a ton (no pun intended) of the blame for his lack of progress in his last 2 seasons. I do think again that he should be in the HOF. His numbers do bear that out in my mind. Proto is just too tough to impress. He doesn't even think I am a good color commentator. How crazy is that? :P :P :P

My thoughts exactly. Should be a no brainer.

How about Matt Hildebran? (sp?) He shot 90% FT for his career and made many cluth shots and was a great leader on the floor, rarely made a mistake, played good defense. I would be interested to hear some opinions. How about Matt vs. Larry Blair? Realize they are different type of players, and hard to compare but.................................................... ?

Hildo is all of those things but HOF is usually about numbers and Hildo doesn't have those type of numbers. Very good career though. There are 3 guys from this year's big south that will make it eventually, Jack Leasure, Arizona Reid, and Reggie Willliams. AZ has 2000 points 1000 rebounds, Jack is the all time leading 3 point shooter in attempts and makes and is close in percentage too I believe. Reggie burried the scoring record. It will be interesting to see who else from basketball they consider. I don't know if any other Liberty players other than Blair will make it any time soon.

I think Scar was just trying to show us what an MVP caliber player is by giving us three examples that we all know. No one on our team has had those type of numbers in recent years except for Larry Blair.

This all sounds great, but am I right - we only have three players in the HOF now!?!? right? Why do we think the BSC is going to all of a sudden open the flood gates for us - somebody is going to be left out. All the names being mentioned are more deserving than Aluma - sorry, that's just the way it is.

Well, we have only been a member of the conference for 16 years or so. If my speculation is correct on the 10 year waiting period for HOF admission, we have averaged one every 2 years so far for the period from 1992-98. I'm sure there are many more to come.
