This bothers me as well. It seems as though we play to the level of our competition. Very frustrating.

CSU is young. Their 2 best players are Freshmen, so it's not surprising they are getting better as the season goes on. The fact is, the BSC has been sorta turned on it's head lately with CSU and RU playing much better, VMI coming on strong, Ashville on the skids and HPU and LU inconsistent. Right now WU is the exception.

I despise WU as much as anyone lefty, but I'm not going to deny what is staring me in the face. They swept us this year and are the only team in the upper half of the standings playing well now. That is not saying we or someone else can't/won't beat them in the tourney. Now if Ashville turns things around and goes into Rock Hill and beats them, it's a different story, but I'm not gunna hold my breath waiting for that to happen. Plus I want them to get the top seed because I'm really hoping to go to the semifinals, and I'd much rather go to Rock Hill than Ashville (especially if the semis were to end up being played in the Justice Center.) :vomit

Oh I agree. We have shown we can hang with WU, and we just have to hit a couple more shots to win.

That being said... I think if we are the 3, there is a somewhat decent chance one of the teams WU has to play could knock them off. (CSU in the first and then VMI, CCU, or HPU)

So imagine, we play the 6 seed at home, UNCA in Rock Hill, and then Host the final. How amazing would that be?

It's far fetched, sure. But I would love to see it happen.

Oh, and my whole rant was just making fun of the whole Winthrop attitude. :P

I would love for that to happen too lefty, but let's not get ahead of ourselves.

I think Chis is on the SID's payroll. It comes out of the "black hole" fund.

Chris Lang wrote:Having not seen the first game (I was at a family function), I have to say, Charleston Southern is not a bad team, especially when it shoots well. They have no post presence whatsoever, and that will have to be addressed in recruiting. But Jamarco Warren seems to find ways to get his shot even when he's covered, and Omar Carter is very dangerous. Once he learns to get to the free-throw line more, he's going to be even better. Bailey, from what I hear, played a little over his head last night. They're going to struggle to win on the road because they won't shoot lights out every game like they do at home. But if Barclay adds a solid inside player or two, CSU will be a team on the rise in the next couple of years.
Bailey has been playing very well lately for CSU. Radebaugh is very high on him, and was hyping him so much before the season that I picked him to be Conference Freshman of the Year before the season started. He didn't see the court much in the first 10 or so games, but he's a solid scoring point guard and ran the team really well last night. CSU is dangerous because they have alot of shooters that can get hot and beat you on any given night, but until they get more of an inside presence, they aren't going to move up much further in the standings.

(this will stir the pot)

Geez, losing games like this is ridiculous. Dunton took the nation's worst program and grabbed the #2 seed his first year. And all you Dunton-haters on this board are all like, "if we get a few breaks, we should be happy with the #3 seed". C'mon. I can't believe that the sight of 600 screaming CSU supporters was too much for McKay and crew to overcome.

It wasn't the fans at CSU that were the problem. At home, we got inside Jamarco Warren's head. It was obvious from the start of the game. He went 2-13 shooting and 1-9 from three. He had five points, one assist, and three turnovers. Now, go to the game last night. He was 7-13 from the field, 5-8 from behind the line. He had 21 points, two assists, and one turnover.

We should be happy with the 3 seed because we lost our leading scorer from last year as well as the most dynamic player on the team. We were picked 6th to start the season. If we finish third in a rebuilding year, that's progress.

Wait... Where are all the TeeJay haters now? 20 and 12 and only 4 turnovers... Yeah... Thought so.

P.S. That was off the bench

Theyll come back when TeeJay has a bad night. Just like the McHaters come out when we lose and the people who hate Brock Smith start yapping when he has a rough game. Also you have "Kyle's preschool buddies"

Tee Jay is sitting 2 seats away from me in the clab...... wierd

Agree 100% with that. TeeJay played OUT OF HIS MIND and I like it. BJ failed to show up for only the second time I can remember recently. I think we need both of them to be on to have a good chance, they are the best at creating shots.

We have the BEST post player and the BEST point guard in the league who are seniors and as good of 6'5" junior wing as there is in the league. Now we are scratching for excuses and call it rebuilding as to why we underachieve.

No, we're not searching for excuses. Everyone that has half a brain has said all year that this is a rebuilding year and we would win games we're not supposed to and lose games we're not supposed to. The rest of the SIDs and media members in the conference apparently thought the same thing before the season started.

Also, you're stretching it a bit if you say TeeJay is the hands down best point guard in this league. He's good, but Winthrop has one that's out played him both times they've played this year.

Some say that TJ may be among the best ever at point ... you tell me.

And obviously Alex is tough, and RMK said Smith was a pro, and there's BJ, Rell, and so on.

I think McKay has done a fine job, and if he wins his last two league games, I believe he will have the identical record that moved JB to let RD go.

I just remember Chris' headline, which must have come from the lips of JB, possibly in paraphrased form: "These Flames possessed too much talent for too few wins." (Friday, March 2, 2007 - page D4)

No matter - it's a good team right now with good talent... the FlameFans certainly love McKay, and as long as nobody from
Atlanta gets mad at RMK, and as long as no new AD comes in (always a dangerous time for coaches - pretty well documented, and especially at LU lately) he should see some long term success should he stay.

It's pretty much about the tournament anyway, although I feel the regular season is a better indicator. Liberty could have a great run in the tourney, and everybody in the world would be happy. Of course, last year, JB said that RD could have won the BS and still been fired...

Bottom line - Go Flames - Go RMK - Go Away JB

I don't want to get in the middle of this Liberty argument here, but I will say that there is NO WAY 600 people were there last night. The only way they could have had even close to that number is if they counted the players, cheerleaders, band, refs, people driving by...
