LU & WU have the only legitimate facilities on campus in the league. But jealousy is an ugly thing.

Sly Fox wrote:Back to Steve's question about why the womens tourney was in Asheville, I think they were one of the ones who was complaining the loudest about us hosting the tourney every year as the regular season champ. Can you name another league that has one set of rules for championship sites for the men and the women? That's Kyle for you.

I believe the league has some requirements about ticket allocations for teams involved in the tourney that downplay the homecourt advantage in such a tiny gym. But having UNCA host the title game is an embarrassment to the league. Hopefully it doesn't happen. The mens tourney is significant that the league should be putting it up for bids to different cities in order to get a free venue in a neutral location (likely somewhere in the Carolinas). That way the conference could avoid the humiliation associated with a UNCA, HPU, CCU or CSU gym being shown to the world on ESPN2 or U.
Big Sky has different rules for the men and women as well. The men go host sites for the first round, followed by the semis and finals at the regular-season champ. The women go to the regular-season champ for the whole thing. I'm sure a lot has to do with revenue. The conference can make a lot more money if Weber State is playing Portland State in Ogden versus having them play it neturally at the regular-season champion.

On the women's side, sad to say, it doesn't matter. There's only going to be a handful of fans at most home games anyway, unless you're one of the bigger programs. I think Liberty is the only school in the Big South that consistently draws in the four figures.

You have got to be kidding me. I thought that they were drawing in the 3K - 4K range for the last 2 years

Yeah... I wouldn't argue with that statement. Maybe because I read the whole thing. :D

Watch it... that's WEF's boy you're talking about. Whenever Kyle is at a Winthrop home game you can find WEF hanging out with him. :)

Haha...Horrez, thanks for throwing me under the bus. If by 'hanging out' you mean he sits behind me, then yeah, we hang out.

What happens if there is a three way tie for 3rd place between High Point, Coastal, & LU if

-LU & Coastal split
-LU & HPU split
-Coastal beats HPU twice
-HPU & LU split with Asheville
-Coastal & HPU split with Winthrop

How would you determine who gets 3rd, 4th, 5th?

Overall record? maybe. I don't know exactly. I doubt they would use Points score and stuff like that.

I think Coastal would get 3rd due to a better record between the 3 tied, High Point 4th because they split with WU and Asheville, then LU 5th, but I'm not sure it wouldn't be a coin flip.
