WOW-

nice win! Wish I could've seen that. Believe it or not- I've never seen a conf game in Vines

a bit surprised that there was only 4k in there though- sounds like those that DID make it made their presence known!

Good start to the season, anyway!

One of the funniest things with Jr last night was when we gave him a shirt. He put his jacket back on over top of it and went to sit back down. We started chanting, "Nice shirt Junior" to him and we he heard it he tore his jacket off and balled it up behind him so everyone could see the t-shirt.

The TeeJay-tinted wrapup from Chris that SJ referenced ....
Bannister's 15 assists fuels Flames

By Chris Lang
Lynchburg News & Advance
January 22, 2008

To account for TeeJay Bannister's passing prowess, an opponent has to keep track of every lane on the floor. Considering the Liberty senior has found a way to exploit any crack of daylight in an opposing defense during his current six-game run of distributing excellence, that's no easy task.

Bannister has steadily climbed the national leaderboard in assists per game in January, and his 15-assist showing in Monday night's 78-59 LU win against Coastal Carolina won't hurt his pursuit of the national lead in the category. Not that he pays attention to such trivialities.

"Nah," Bannister said. "I can't worry about that."

The fans in the front row of the Vines Center student section keep Bannister abreast of his progress during games, scribbling his assist tally onto a dry-erase board. Bannister had four more assists than the entire Chanticleer roster Monday, and he tied Liberty's Division I single-game assist record, which Matt Hildebrand set against Winthrop in January 1993.

Does anybody else love those halftime games between the little kids in the rec leagues? I just keep thinking that's probably one of the greatest thrills of their lives so far, to play in front of so many people. And everybody seems to get really into it.

They are fun.

They had a HUGE girl. She literally shot, missed and got her own rebound 7 straight times last night.

Great win for the guys. Makes things look a lot better, BS wise. Point Guard play really helping, as expected.
Huge win...Congrats to all -

This is a technical problem on the school's end. Even CCU lost their audio signal. I have a strong feeling this being addressed right now (if not already).

As for the crowd, I'd love to hear comparisons from some of the Old Hags to the old Furnace days and even back in Liberty Gym when it was considered unacceptable to sit unless we were down by 40.

TeeJay's 15 assists tied the LU record set by Hildo, according to Jerry Edwards on the post-game show.
If you could see teh look on Russ' face as he was going up for that dunk it was priceless...he apparently doesnt get much chance to throw it down in a game

There were some folks sitting around the top but when Jerry Jr and Dr Godwin started surfing, they were on their feet.

nothing beats an old packed liberty gym and banging on the HVAC ducts and throwing toilet paper after the first score...SJ you would have loved it, but last's night's crowd was as enthusiatic crowd as i have seen in a long time, and it's gonna get better. the best atmosphere ever in the vines i thought was the BSC final with High Point...man that was loud.

I still to this day wish I was in the Vines Center for that one smoothie...8500+ LU fans absolutely blowing the roof off the Vines Center and our boys basically running HPU out of the gym. We may not have that many for the game on Saturday but here's hoping we have a HUGE crowd.

apparently?
it's a fact. 5 minutes per game is greater than or equal to no chance to throw it down

Russ is the greatest player for Liberty as long as there is 30 seconds to go in a game and were up by 30.

Throws down the nastiest meaningless dunks too

only exception was last year's ecu game. he made a huge dunk that turned the game around with a couple minutes left and we won.
