But aren't 2 of our new forwards 6'9" (Austin Smith) and 6'11" (McMasters)?

Yes, but outside of them and Nate Campbell we don't have any other post guys.

Scholarship players next year:

1) Jeremy Anderson
2) Tyler Baker
3) Nathan Campbell
4) Justin Holland
5) B.J. Jenkins
6) Anthony Smith
7) Johnny Stephene
8) Brolin Floyd
9) Sammy Jackson
10) Mike Lewis
11) Carter McMasters
12) Austin Smith
13) Seth Curry

Add to that Kyle in the walk-on spot.

Armon and Oz don't have their scholarships, and everything else works out.

What's the problem here?

Starters are:

Seth Curry
BJ Jenkins
Anthony Smith
Tyler Baker
Carter McMasters

Kyle comes off the bench anywhere between the 2 and the 4 really (mainly 2 and 3).
Anderson comes off the bench at the 2 and 3.
Stephene comes off the bench at the 2 and 3.
Soup comes off the bench at the 4 and 5.
Smith comes off the bench at the 4 and 5.

What about Kevin Smith? I guess we can't count him yet since he hasn't signed.

This is a long ways off, but Brolin Floyd is supposed to be good enough to see starters' minutes right away. And Sammy Jackson will probably be worked into the rotation.

I don't see much way Ohman DOESN'T get a schollie next year. He has earned it.

I agree with the initial post that: Oz, Armon and Justin Holland will be gone. Oz and Armon aren't very good and obviously, Holland doesn't fit in to McKay's plans.

It probably is. I was just going on what very little I know of the guys coming in next year. The two that I know for sure will start next year are BJ and Smitty. Tyler should if he's healthy and his game progresses at all.

I think my scholarship list is pretty close to what it'll be though.

Yeah your scholarship list looks pretty good Jon, but RM has already said that Brolin Floyd and Sammy Jackson will make an impact next year. So you have to work them into the mix.

Don't you guys think that McKay could somehow get Ohman a scholorship through the school academically? Or in some other way that it wouldn't count against the our alloted scholorships for Men's Basketball? Or is this as illegal as it gets?

Welcome to the Patriot League in football, and every DII and DIII school in the country.

Kyle is someone who was at Liberty and decided to play basketball. In no way, shape, or form did we ever recruit the kid. It's likely that he was already on some sort of financial aid scholarship or grant before he decided to play basketball. Most of the kids at Liberty are. He's a good student, makes good grades, and there's no reason to think that he couldn't get the other funding. I'm pretty sure that Kyle has not signed a National Letter of Intent at any time. How the scholarship stuff works for walk-ons who have not been recruited is unbeknown to me, but it's highly unlikely that he's paying his full tuition right now.

What happens in non-scholarship leagues has nothing to do with how LU would be evaluated by the NCAA.

If LU regularly gives out academic scholarships to juniors, who are non-athletes, and who were not eligible in their first two years -- and Kyle meets the normal criteria for such a scholarship, then there may be possibilities. Seems very unlikely to me, though.

Personally, I don't think that this is a road that LU would care to travel down.

It is a shame you guys are already talking about next years roster in the middle of this year...

It would also be a crying shame if that Kyle kid doesn't get a scholarship, without him, they don't beat Campbell... Hopefully McKay will do the right thing and give him one. He deserves it, like that SCAR guy got his back in the day.

It was Christmas break with not much to talk about for a couple of weeks. We've far from given up on this season.

This statement is not totally true. Where, Liberty might not have recruited Kyle, Kyle went to Liberty because it was his best chance to walk on to a D-1 school. Ive known Kyle since I was prolly about 15 and played basketball with him and still do when he comes back to Mechanicsburg. I actually sold him my car to take with him to Liberty. I cant comment on his financial situation at school, but I know he chose Liberty in part because hes a devout Christian and the chance to play basketball.. He did not just go to school, there and say "Hey, I wanna play ball here". I'm positive in his visit it was known he wanted to play ball.

Was he recruited though? There are a ton of kids that come to Liberty because they think it's their best shot to walk-on, but that doesn't mean they were preferred walk-ons or anything like that.

And if you were good enough to be the 1st guy off the bench, they'd probably give you a scholarship.

with no disrespect intended to KO, I wonder if "good enough to be first off the bench" is more a reflection of where the team is at this year, with Coach expecting next season's team to be a completely different animal altogether.
