He is right, that would put LB at about 3 feet tall, although he is only 5'10" (dont give me 6 foot)

what's funny is even though Dees has the size advantage you will never see him attack the basket like LB simply b/c he's soft and falls in love with his jumpshot

I wasn't really glossing the resume so much as I was letting HMO know that I only have tapes of games when I had big games or big dunks. That is why I only have some of the games. I am going to see what FTN has from back in the day. They have to have some awesome highlights of BA from the old days. Not proof of how good he was really because you cna make almost anyone look good on a highlight reel but at least you could see a sample...As far as Dees is concerned, I think he was a tremendous player that would have gone down as one of the best ever at LU and if he would have had a commitment at both ends he would have been great. Remember he still had 2 years left (actually he still HAS 2 years left). LB could do things better than Dees but David could definitely do things LB couldn't do, like post up and score. Dees was a better stand still shooter as well but Larry really has improved that this past season.

I thought before this last season Dees was more dangerous than Blair simply b/c he could score in the post better, seemed to get to the line more as well. Not sure after seeing Blair this season. Never paid enough attention on the defensive end to make a comparison there. Blair is more explosive but I thought Dees was always going to get his points simply b/c he could work inside as well.

I think the D side of the equations is what hurts Dees more, b/c it doesnt allow everyone to see EVERYTHING that he could do, simply b/c you do have to take him out during periods where big stops are needed, not to mention the amount of times he's taken out b/c of blown assignments and stuff like that

I was wondering when Scar would join in. Has anyone seen Timmy lately? He's gone from good sized point guard (6'3" 205) to a freaking linebacker (250). Can we find a helmet that will fit though? Just teasing you, pal.

Someone said that if Blair wins the scoring title the conversation should end. I don't think so. There are a lot of things that go into scoring, shot attempts, types of shots, a teams need, competition, how the scoring is accomplished. I think that something you have to remember is that BA played with a bunch of Div II calibre front court guys. Mike Coleman turned out to be a man, but in his first years he was finding his way. Todd Cline, at 6'9" could shoot, but had little else (he could barely run due to hip injury). Brett Badgett was a 6'3" power forward. You won't find that anywhere else. Derrick Williams was a 6'6" swingman that couldn't shoot from more than 15 feet. But he had swagger, and a great sense of humor. The best post player on campus played football (Eric Green). He was by far our best inside player and killed us in spring pick up. Timmy was right, if we had him we would have won a lot more games. BA was head and shoulders above the rest of us. And everyone we played.

Tim was also right when he said that BA was a pro athlete playing at LU. I'm not sure Bailey knew what he was. He knew he was good. He served as captain of an American college team that traveled through South America (he was the leading scorer also) that consisted of players from the Big East and the ACC. One other thing Tim was right about, the guy could hit a big shot. If by some miracle we were within a single possession and had the ball at the end of a game you had to feel good about our chances. If he weren't able to get his shot he would at least draw two or three defenders and kick to an open man on the perimeter, which he could do as well as anyone I've ever seen. I loved those rare days when we practiced on the same squad. I knew I was going to get a lot of open looks.

I'm willing to bet that "Timmy"s problem is those cookies of Mrs SCAR that I keep hearing about but have never been offered. The man Hoovers everything on the table- I had to guard my chicken parm sandwich w/ a steak knife just to keep him off it.

Well said Monster (especially since you said I was right about 12 times  ). Bailey could draw a crowd, it was getting him to pass it to you that was the difficult part  I will say this about LB though. He is a clutch of a performer as I have seen. He has hit far too many big shots to count especially this season. Too bad it was such a tough season or we would be really having a tough argument about who was the best. Blair is cementing his legacy quite nicely and I really hope we get some more guys in here that have seen both guys play because I would love to hear some more opinions.

And Monster, don't worry about the head jokes, GOAT AKA Larry Jackson kills me when he is on here with the head jokes...Ok so I resemble Ray Lewis much more than Chauncey Billups at this stage of my life. I just need to maintain before I turn into Refrigerator Perry.

anyone ever hear the story about Lefty Drezel (Sp?) coming up to BA and telling him there wasnt anyone that could have stopped him one night after a game except for one, and that was him, and he said he wasnt even sure if he could since he wasnt known for his defensive prowless

Monster 35 REGISTER man! As far as the cookies? I am giving them up for the next 14 weeks until I head to vacation. Monster got to eat some of those cookies last weekend as Mrs SCAR always sends me with a few when I go on trips....I remember Lefty being very complimentary of BA when we left the building after playing JMU and I also remember him telling us a few stories but I can't remember the content of the conversation as it was over 17 years ago. I don't know how they do that on Law and Order when they have a 25 year old case and then they call the witnesses and they remember everything. But I digress....For the Record it was Jerry Edwards that dubbed me Timmy Scarborough when I played here. We talked about that the night we honored him on his 25th anniversary. He also clowned me about not fitting into my old jersey

Did the seams split?

I remember that trip to JMU. Didn't win that one either. BA played well. Tim, do you remember that court? The dead spots and that one extremely sweet trampoline like spot in the middle of the lane? One of their dudes took off on the Cliner from that spot. That dunk still wakes me up at nights. Cold sweats and all.

Loved the cookies. I only had one though. Took a look at Scar and knew they were blowing him up so I had to call off my tastebuds.

Hey, fellas, it wasn't just Mrs. Scar's cookies. That guy would adios any cookie you put in front of him. Give him an 7 Oreos and a gallon of grape ("grep") gutbuster and he was as happy as a clam. He ran it off back in those days though.

Sorry I'm banging on you so much, Timmy, but this is fun. These guys know you.

Yes they do know me Monster so it is cool. But they don't know who Timmy is my friend  You need to check out the old pic of me back in the day. It is in the Old Folks Home section of this board. I will give it a bump so you can check it out. It might bring back some memories.
