I agree with that too. That's two performances that I think were better than Alex's.
Well whoever made up the poll evidentally thought it was good enough or Larry would have been up there.

So we're required to agree with the poll?

No I never even said who I was voting for. I simply asked because this is the HOOPS section if anyone was voting for Alex.
You can't change the poll. Those are the athletes that were selected. And you either vote or you don't. Just saying that Brewingtons 30 was more impressive tells me where your at. That is just dumb. Now lets hear your banter about why that was said.

I don't know if anyone is a Yankee fan. Probably not. But is this the equivalant of saying Shelly Duncand homeruns shouldn't be even highlighted because they played Tampa Bay and not the Redsox ?

Horrible example Kaz. Now if you said they got extra pitches to hit or something like that then I would see your point. My point was only that the conditions and stats against VMI should be taken under consideration. If you get 20 rebounds in a game when both teams shot 80 total shots, that is amazing. If you get 20 rebounds of the 150 shots taken in a game, that is not as impressive. Does that make sense? Also if you get left alone under the goal 20 times a game like what happens with certain players vs VMI, you are gonna score more than when a whole defense is running at you every time you get the ball like LB gets. I am not trying to start a LB conversation here but that was just an example. If a QB throws for 250 yards in a game that may seem like a good game until you look at the stats and see that they passed the ball 75 times. Now that is not as impressive. Stats are subjective. Looking at a 40 point performance is impressive under almost any circumstance but when judging it against a 4 minute mile or a 200 yard rushing game against an outmatched, over powered defense, it doesn't hold up when it happened in the inflated VMI environment. I wish you would have seen how they play or see highlights of the game then you would probably agree or at least concede the point.

Once again I was at one game and watched the other. I don't concede. I have a computer and can look at all the stats judt like you. So don't try and say I didn't see VMI. I get the point I won't state it again. I know that players score more points against VMI. Thats a given. Drop it.

So you still think Alex should get the nod then? What are we talking about then? I'm lost. Sorry :?

Ok, I read back a few posts where you conceded that point. :)

No I didn't even say that. I took exception to the fact that everyone was down on it and kept giving stupid examples why he shouldn't even have been included in the poll. I didn't say one thing about any of the deserving atheletes you all did. I simply started by asking a question.

And I do agree with you that we shouldn't frown on Alex's performance or not acknowledge it. Like I said, just playing 37 minutes in that environment is a testiment to his hard work as well as his skill.

Coastal was 4th in the conference, VMI was 6th. Why isn't 40 against a better team more impressive?

What about the 19 rebounds ?? Oh I see they don't count. Ah, yes VMI shoots so many more shots that its just expected.
Anyone can do it. Just chalk up the whole game as we won and the stats don't count.

Two kids for Mercer who weren't good at all jacked up double doubles against VMI. The double double is impressive, but not as impressive as the others to me.

I can see what you think of certain players on Liberty Basketball. It is coming through loud and clear. You spent more time on why someone should'nt get a vote then trying to point out what is good about a player. Good work. There are only 180 something votes last time I looked. No big deal. I simply posted a question. You chose to tear it down not me.

I have nothing against Alex. He's a very good ball player. To say I don't like Alex because I wasn't as impressed with his game against VMI as I was others is simply stupid and idiotic.

40 and 19 against VMI is maybe 28 and 12 against a different team with a normal offensive scheme, and while impressive, isn't as impressive as 40 against Coastal, Josh under 4 minutes, or Megan's 37.

Wow

Scar you must have had 20 posts in this thread!

I voted for Megan. I'm sure Josh's was a great accomplishment, but it doesn't mean alot to me because I don't follow track or know how great of an accomplishment it is. I know a sub 4 minute mile is phenomenal, but Megan's peformance was just amazing. She carried the team on her back that night. I still can't believe she wasn't able to do that more in conference, and I know alot of had to do with the teams knowing her better. Oh well, hopefully this year will be better for the ladies.

As for Ace, I agree with Scar and Sj. Yes, it was a great game for him, but not better than Megan or Josh considering it was a gainst VMI. You have to take into account for their style of play. If he would have done that against anybody other than VMI, then we could discuss it as being the greatest performance.

I didn't say that. You are misquoting me. But you sure threw other players out there as soon as it was mentioned. You were quick to downplay the accomplishment. Hey I didn't post the poll. I didn't select the choices. Maybe you should write to Sparky.

So, what exactly did you mean by that if you weren't implying I didn't like Alex?

In my opinion if you are a fan of someone or you believe that they are an asset to your team you would find a way different way of expressing yourself. I would not throw anyone on the team under the bus whether i liked them or not. I just felt we were talking basketball and didn't need to spend the time on why not. I would never want to minimilize someones achievements especially when I could never come close such.

There are only two options regarding commitment. You're either IN or youre OUT. There is no such thing as life in-between.
