The Liberty men’s basketball team is scheduled to make a preseason trip to Ontario, Canada, over Labor Day weekend for a two-game exhibition schedule, announced head coach Ritchie McKay.

“I am really excited about the opportunity our team gets by traveling to Canada and play against some competitive teams,” said McKay.

I actually think it's a good move - and with everybody feeling the way they do right now, I don't think anyone will be questioning the level of competition. Again - I think it's a good move.

So, does that mean you're happy with those guys being on the LU side now? ... and happy with the schedule?

Yes, it's a solid schedule! If I remember right Colo State was fairly competitive during McKay's stay.

In a little more than a week, we''ll get our first glimpse of the McKay era. It will be interesting to learn how much chemistry has developed so far.

Well, we won't be able to actually see it, but we'll be able make at least some initial observations, especially with reagrd to Bannister's playmaking.

Yeah, I wish we could see it, but I'm going to guarantee that we will love TJ's playmaking.

Flames Open First Week of Practice in Preparation for Labor Day Trip to Canada

In preparation for the Flames’ fall preseason excursion to Canada, Liberty’s first week of men’s basketball practice continues to run well.

Liberty is participating in a two-game exhibition schedule over Labor Day weekend in Ontario, Canada. The NCAA allows a program, every four years, to participate in such a trip abroad. Big South foe, Winthrop, made a trip to Australia in anticipation for last season.

Early start for Badgers

Some of the experienced players will show just how ready they are next weekend and the rookies will get a chance to show what they have.

The Brock Badgers men’s basketball team will get somewhat of a jump on a few of its Ontario University Athletics counterparts during a brief one-week training camp next week.

The Badgers get the OK for that because of a visit by three NCAA teams to St. Catharines and Welland over the Labour Day weekend.

In all, seven games will be played over three days at the Bob Davis Gymnasium and Notre Dame in Welland, with North Florida University, Liberty and Texas A&M Corpus Christi taking on the Badgers, Royal Military College and the Southern Ontario All-Stars.
My favorite part of the story is the designation of A&M-Corpus Christi as a high major. Perhaps they have the Islanders confused with the Aggies.
The head coach also noted that the three visiting teams are a good mix from the NCAA.

“North Florida would be considered a low Division 1 team, Liberty University a mid-major and Texas A&M a major Division 1, so you have three different levels."

Its the American falls at Niagara. The Maid of the Mist boat ride is a must whenever you are in the area (remember Bruce Almighty?).

I think this is a great move, and I am doing cartwheels over it. Heck, I might even pick up the real estate section tomorrow and look to see if any houses are for sale that have a nice pool!!
New coach, new system, a nice trip to ANYWHERE would be a great move. Theorectically, we should dominate our friends from the north, which would also give the playes confidence in their "new direction". It will also give the coaches a great opportunity to see if first impression from "pick up" games were accurate and who can do what. I am glad he scheduled this and it speaks volumes about his ability to run a program.
Let the record show to all the haters out there, this was an ENTIRE post with nothing but positives!!
