What would everyone's choice for an entrance song be? The Baltimore Orioles line-up song for this year is U2's "Desire" and last year it was "Battle without Honor and Humanity" by Tomoysau Hotei. I think both songs would sound incredible in the Vine's.

We could borrow the TREVOR HOFFMAN entrance music...
...imagine the sounds of the bells in the intro echo-ing off the walls of the Vines.
(of course, imagine the irony, too).

Very interesting, indeed.

"About a Burning Fire" by Blindside. It's themed right, it's a "Christian" band and it's intimidating.

Unfortunately, since it's for basketball, it would never work.

Precisely. Great into and highly ironic.

Here is a thought that I have had for a couple of years.

I think the AD should contact TobyMac and ask him to work on an intro song specifically for LU basketball. The intro would be unique in our homecourt. He could also add the song or a version of it to one of his next releases. He sells more records than any other LU grad. This would also give the song familiarity among many across the country that are currently not in the LU family.

That's actually an insanely good idea. It wouldn't take much, maybe a day, for him to pull something out.

Or even easier, he could just lay a new voice track over one of his current songs. That would cut the amount of effort necessary immensely. And while they are at it, have Toby register on the board. The more old hags on here the better.

TobyMac is okay, but would't we rather have a song from our own Dr. John Hugo. who wrote the fight song for the football team?

I think that if we did have a song made in house it oughta involve electric guitars, and I never really thought of Dr Hugo as somebody that would write something like that (Although I gotta admit when I found out that he wrote the fight song I was impressed)

Yea, a basketball intro definitely wouldn't be played by the "Sweet Sixteen."

If we had a real pep band, it'd be somewhat possible, but not with what we have now.

Careful Jon--you have moved from Dr. Hugo's territory to Dr. Kerr's backyard. What do you mean by these 2 quoted statements, and why is our "Sweet Sixteen" NOT a "real pep band"?

Have you heard them? Our marching band was great this year, but the "Sweet Sixteen" was horrible. You can rarely hear them, they play the same 2-3 things the entire time.

At the NCAA tournament, EKU sound light years better than our "Sweet Sixteen" with close to the same amount of people. Actually, every band there (MSU, EKU, UNC, and Marquette) were light years better than our pep band.

Once again, our marching band was great. Our pep band was horrible.

Super, I used to love to watch our Sweet Sixteen back when they had the Cowbell Guy, but I haven't had much interest in them since he left. Dr. Kerr used to direct both the Marching Band & the Sweet Sixteeen pep band, but I have not seen him with the pep band for quite some time.

It sounds like part of your problem with the Sweet Sixteen is their VOLUME--would that be because they are small in number or because of the speakers used to broadcast their music?

A good pep band doesn't need to be mic'd. Put about 20-25 people in there and learn a few actual stand tunes and we'd be fine. I'm so tired of hearing that little melody that the trumpets play so the one guy can show that he can hit a high note. They play it 2-3 times in a row, and generally 3-4 times a game.

the music isn't played well in the pep band anyway. and adding the mic like they have done the last few years just makes the music sound just like noise.
