TylerBaker - I actually feel sympathy for you . It is tough to see someone you obviously admire fired. But to say this has been the best 5 year stretch in the schools history is coming from someone who does not know their history. The last 5 with "The Great Satan" (JM) were pretty solid. Fairly certain there was an NCAA birth and a 20 win season in there. When we LOST the BSC tournament it was a HUGE blow b/c we were expected to win it. Instead the ladies won it, stole our Karma, and have been on a roll since. For what LU has at its disposal, finishing 3rd in one of the historically worst conference in the history of all college sports (ok that may be a bit much) IS a bad thing. We just never got better.
Let me posit this:
When RD came in, he had Mel's players, who everyone says were awful. He managed to put together a pretty decent year. He goes to the NCAA's which is AWESOME. Last year we were what? 7 for the world? With HIS players and he can only take up back to the point where we were with MEL's 'rejects'. He is able to get us to be average. RD is right, people at Chuck South, Birm South, Radford and Temple football would be thrilled and DOING CARTWHEELS (Thank you LNI post, and I really don't want to imagine THAT visual) but very few others would.
I hope RD finds gainful employment and I am sure that he will. Having a family to take care of and not having a job is very stressful and don't wish that feeling on ANYONE
