the last couple of seasons under Randy Dunton. Big games= choke jobs. We could have put them away if we got a couple of boards and stops down the stretch. VMI was the better team. I am not surprised we lost tonight.

- I would have put B.J. in for the last few seconds and hope he could pull a Coastal.
- Larry shot a three late in the game when we needed a two... again.
- For some reason I can't be mad at Larry though. With the exception of some other talent this season, what would we have been the last four years without him?
- VMI really played a slow game. Turned out to be a good strategy. Dugger outcoached us.
- Alex was beasted. He had four guys on him everytime he got the touch.
- Tyler Baker was on freakin' fire. Why not put him in at the end?
- Rell Porter hit a 3... at that point, I felt like the angels were singing... turned out to be VMI students.
- VMI would just not go away. We had so many times where I thought "That's it... we can just get a stop and a basket and start to pull away." Then they'd go up with a big play.
- I thought the refs were pretty fair. Maybe one or two calls blowed both ways.

That trip was pretty bad, and set the whole thing off tempo at the end. Brew was open to throw to at half court when Smitty chucked to LB who was running the wrong way. We played very poor defense, all game, and when we needed the key board we never got it. They flat out beat us. WHY WASNT TB IN AT THE END OF THE GAME????????? and why did RD take him out in the first place???? We had the hot hand on the bench. That really reminds me of the 4th and 3 or something like that give it to WESLEY CHEEK.

Also besides the already mentioned defense performance by Smitty(honestly Ace looked just as bad and to be honest no one was playing d to begin with, where simple picks created layups..... every time down the court) i dont think he made a 3 either, and he took alot. Eh on the officiating, because no one is ever happy with them. We simply didnt want to win enough.
But I will say during warmups Smitty did look good dunking....

As for RD..... well lets just say the longer JB waits the better chance he has of returning. Someone said something about 2123 in 5 years..... WE HAVE HAD A FIRST RD EXIT 3 YEARS IN A ROW, IN A VERY POOR CONF(minus Winthrop I feel bad they have to play suckers like us)

Side note I was standing 7 rows back on the student side and a woman behind was moaning for 5 minutes that "That boy has to sit down I cant enjoy this" Also when she asked me to sit down I told her if she wants to sit and watch the game to go home and turn on the tv(in a nicer manner, and it was good her hubby didnt hear that). Baptist side was awful, and many times i had to double check to make sure we were in the Vines and not VMI.

The LB 3 with like a minute to go I think the shot clock was at 6 and there was NO I MEAN NO offensive movement, so yeah he didnt need to chuck it but so many times our O was stalled, and any time theyd get the ball pull people outside the 3 pass the ball stutter stutter open lane basket. Or dribble pic open lane basket. It was just baaaaaaaaaad

Well this time she (yes, she) was half way nice about it, but she was getting into it with a fan just a few seats away. At first she was yelling at me about it then she just came clean and said "Look, you have the right to hold up the sign, but it's offensive" (it said West Point Rejects.... yes SJ, it wasn't Citadel, but half the kids in my section don't know what The Citadel is). So yea.... it was offensive... that's why I made it.

Tyler Baker has something like 9-10 points in the first half and keeps his warmups on until less than 9 minutes into the 2nd half. Typical rotation.

Duggar did a great coaching job. He out coached the crap out of Dunton.

Sly, you can try to keep the Dunton stuff off of here until tomorrow, but people were talking about it before they even left the Vines. We were saying that the final 3.8 seconds determined the next 2-3 years of who coaches LU basketball.

Speaking of that, that was a horrible play call at the end.

We choked, VMI beat us at our own game.

Gotta give credit to the VMI coaching staff for a great game plan tonight. They dictated an up-tempo pace all season long, but slowed it down tonight, and found a way to shut down Alex and disrupt Larry with a couple of different zone looks.

What really glares out is LU's point gaurd by commitee approach this season. A seasoned playmaker certainly would have made a huge difference tonight.

The last play of the game was designed to have Larry as a decoy to go to halfcourt. ACE then was to set a screen to free up Brew to drive to the basket. Apparently as already mentioned, Brew was open but for some reason Smitty threw it back to Larry who had tripped on his way to the backcourt.

Even though he had not taken the ball out all year, I would have had Tyler take it out being 6 9 he could see better over the D. I think the reason they took Tyler out was for defensive purposes, but as we saw Rell could not handle the assignment either.

time to wait and see the future.

We had a guy tell a kid who was handicapped that he couldn't sit in a place he has the entire season. He had to push himself up 3 stairs to get to a seat. We also had an officer tell us we had to move from a place we had been since the beginning of the season.

on some positive notes, aside from the last two 3 point attempts by blair, he still was huge in the game. That one play where he just popped the ball up from VMI and went and dunked had everyone on their feet. Then later the alley oop was reeediculous. Those two things had all the momentum for LU, we should have done more with that.

Negative side of things, i think blair was way too cocky taking those last two shots, the team relied too much on him towards the end, he played the entire second half, and that was rediculous. Give him a break so he can actually do something.


Completely off topic, i wore my dads 76 baseball jersey (pics in the baseball forum), some guy offered me 100 bucks for it. I told my dad that, and hes sending me the original Baseball jersey when the colors were still green and yellow
