JM Lay off of LUREAL. He/she is just feeling his/her oates. He/she is never here when things are bad so let him/her have his/her say. Everyone has expressed how happy we are this team did not mail it in. If he /she wants to brag over a .571 conference winning percentage, and that is the strongest thing they can bring to the table, he/she is undermining their own argument. I am sure there are other more spectacular things to hang you hat on then the current conference winning percentage and our "continuity".

I'm glad we're in 3rd, and I give huge props for turning the season around, but are we really bragging about 8-6?

do you really direspect 8-6 in conference. less than 1/3 of division 1 teams have a better conference record so many would gladly be in our position. nobody is saying it is the ultimate but winning in any league is difficult. your right i am not going to jump on some negative bandwagon with guys that think we should waltz into every venue and win or fire the coach. the program has gone 212and 3 and some continue to characterize that as negative. no one wants championships more than dunton and he is leading us in that direction.

At this point although my sig says otherwise we have alot of momentum and RD has done a good job getting the troops together, period. With his extension, this may be kind of like a Karcher situation, where he should be getting an extension based on the improvement this year(I know you have to count that awful year in the mix, but hes done a decent job at rebounding) and to be honest its not like this team isnt going nowhere. He has people coming in, and with another good recruiting class next year and the following(along with the retention of the players) We should be in good shape. Nice job down the stretch guys

what was football in the bsc? who did they beat non-conference? how many teams did they beat with any division 1 wins outside of bsc? the fact is none of it is easy and we should be proud of what is being accomplished and yes work together for bigger and better futures.

not really just looking for consistency on appraisal of performance. i am a big fan of what football is doing and will be in williams stadium for every game possible rooting loud. also won't quit on rocco if tough times surface. building the programs at this level is going to take all of us getting behind the coaches and teams to achieve the next steps in growth. we need to accenuate the positives to generate momentum on campus and in the community.

SJ, I think you have the correct perspective here. I don't really want to throw a wet blanket on things on the eve of the tournament, especially since we have built some momentum, but I just finished some research and I don't want to re-do it later.

Current record 14-16, will not finish above .500 unless we win a game in the NCAA's, or we stop counting after the BSC tournament.
We won 6 non-conference games, 3 of those against D2 and NAIA teams. The three D1 wins were against teams with a combined 23-65 record (we also lost to two of thse teams, Longwood and St. Francis the second time we played them).
We had a 8-6 conference record in one of the worst conferences in D1.

One can point to the improvement over last year, but unlike the football team, all the players were recruited by the current coaching staff.

Personally, I do not think the results are any more than very average to poor at best. If we are honest, the results were below expectations of every one of us at the beginning of the year. Have we made some late-season improvents, yes. However, are we as a group or individuals willing to settle for these results year after year? That is something each will have to answer for themselves.

Fortunately or unfortunately, none of us here have any decision-making authority in the process. I will suggest however, these results and the lack of solid consistent improvement in the program, may be a big reason for the lack of fan support and overall apathy this year.

flameshaw you are aware that dunton had to revamp the roster. so to characterize this as underachieving is a joke. we restablished with home court winning and found a way to go 3-4 on
the road in conference. real progress should not be belittle because of your stated feelings toward coach.
you are quick to call a "t" undisciplined when hold your own is saying the official supervisor said twelve calls were missed that hurt us. dunton has earned better from us and his efforts has a foundation of success to build on. smitty,alex,tj,tyler,dwight,bj,rell are all proven players to build a very good team with next year. so you are entitled to your opinion i choose not to belittle what this team has done. they battled byu and seton hall. so cast your negatives, tell me how easy it is to get a 212and 3 finish in five years. i am sure there are a ton of programs who can say in the last five years they have finished 212and 3 in their conference. let's be honest enough to give the credit for what has been done with a program that finish last in the bsc four years in a row prior to dunton's return.

I believe that is what LUREAL thinks RD's record is over his tenure here based on: Had the referees not cheated us out of winning, had Jeff Meyer not sank his evil talons into some of the other "loses" and the "woulda shoulda coulda wins" So overall it IS an impressive record if you look at it that way!

LUREAL - Why are you bringing the officials into this? Are you know claiming that there is a conspiracy amongst men's basketball officials against RD and they are angling to get him fired?

Who ever said that our results this year were objectively average i agree. We don't suck, but we aren't good.

we're far more talented than half the Big South (on that note, I wasn't that impressed at Radford because they probably would have lost to Cederville)
