I am sorry, I just do not believe that steals equates into a great defensive player. Especially in their system, it leads to a lot of opponent turnovers. To me defensive player of the year is somebody that can take a LB or AZ and hold them to 10-12 points. Somebody that as an offensive player, you do not want him guarding you.
I know that it is a very subjective award, but do not simply look at steals and say DPOY.
