Good debate going on over at the Winthrop board.
You can't compare Brewington to Torrell Martin for several reasons:
1.) Martin isn't a new member of the team coming into the lineup in the middle of the season. He's been playing with everybody in lineup for at least one year.
2.) Martin is a much, much better player than Brewington.
3.) Martin will still probably see limited minutes against Liberty, and obviously, his coming into the lineup on Saturday did not throw off the team's chemistry, as they had arguably their most well-rounded game of the season.
I don't think Brew is a downgrade for Torrell. From a talent standpoint I see them very similarly. He's finding his rhythm right now and has improved remarkably since you guys saw us last. Eagle Fan can attest (he joined us on FlameFans watching the game online Saturday) to Dwight being a different player right now than what you guys saw in Lynchburg online.
I like it. I think you're wrong, but I can't fault you for picking your team to win. Brew is a good player (better than he looked at first), but he is no Torrell Martin. Torrell is a leader. Even these past few weeks when he wasn't on the court playing, he could be seen on the bench talking to the younger players giving them advice and cheering them on. Maybe Brew will get there, but right now it isn't even close. That is why I don't think TMART will upset our chemistry the way Brew did Liberty's. Brew was the new guy. This is Torrell's team.Thoughts?
