it's funny. Franklin is married, and not some punk kid......He was promised rent, so his wife could go and finish school; however, since it was not delivered, she had to work and was unable to go back to school. Thanks Medic, I never like getting into the details, but yeah RD's fault.... 100%

Wouldn't promising/paying rent be a violation of NCAA rules?

Sorry Dickens, "promised rent," I just don't believe it. :?

that is just Franklin's story...
You don't have to believe it to make it truth. That is what I was told by the 20 year old college kid who didn't get what he wanted.....from Pamedic
It wont make news, and it was not a violation, b/c Franklin is leaving because he didn't get his rent paid for.....

Did Franklin know that was a violation? If so, why on earth would he agree? Also, not that I believe it, but would promising to pay his rent, and then not doing it be a violation? The promising part, not the breaking of a promise.

Here's the way I think it went down:

He may have had rent promised, but that was because if he was getting a full scholarship, he could've taken the money for housing and used it for rent elsewhere. Something in the scholarship may have gotten screwed up and he didn't see the left over money for housing. That's the way I see it working out.

That is a fair assessment...then RD should have taken care of it

I believe it is legimitate to take the housing part of the scholie and use it for rent elsewhere as SJ states.

it's pretty unfair to call dickens a liar. He's no doubt going by what Franklin said which is obviously gonna have a bias. Don't go crazy on the guy.

Not that I am going to get into the Liar liar pants on fire bit....
But a partial clarification on Rent: Athletes are given "full" scholarships that cover room and board. This can either be in the dorms (but not special Athletic Dorms) or a stipend that is equal (insert formula here) to that for off campus housing. THerefore, he would have had at least some if not all of his housing expenses paid.

Now back to your regular diatribes. DINGBATS!!! (only for you LU'get"Real)

Isn't it slander when LUreal calls Josh a liar when he's not lying?

Actually, it is Libel, but let's not hold him to hard and close to the facts. He obviously didn't take any Sport Law classes. :D

Libel
A false publication, as in writing, print, signs, or pictures, that damages a person's reputation.
The act of presenting such material to the public.
The written claims presented by a plaintiff in an action at admiralty law or to an ecclesiastical court.

Slander
Law Oral communication of false statements injurious to a person's reputation.
A false and malicious statement or report about someone

dickens-"unfulfilled promises...100% rd's fault...most definately a violation of NCAA rules" those are the kind of accusations that he constantly brings and backs them up by they came from the player. that is how truth is established?? parents, potential recruits and competitors read this board. so yes it is slander. if you rent an apartment that cost more than your scholarship covers than yes your wife will have to work. when the head coach and staff give great effort to keep a player involved and he quits than that is on the player. coach d said there were a couple of school and academic issues he wish that lf did have to deal with but could have got through it. we all wish larry the best.

Ergo, the HE Said / She Said argument. LUREAL (Which we should re name our soccer team to, seriously, Real Liberty? Great soccer name) says he/she gets their information from RD, Dickens says he/she gets the info from the player. Who are we to believe or does the truth lie somewhere in the middle?

not personal? on a MBB thread?

ROTFLMAO

SIDE NOTE: I'll STILL take jmdickens and others who may, lets just say- be a BIT critical- over the other 9k kids out there who don't even bother showing up for a game.

SJ's explanation about the rent coming from the scholarship sounds about right. I certainly think it couldn't come out of Dunton's pocket or some booster's for that matter--serious violation. Chalk it up to miscommunication, I guess. :?

At least HATE shows passion. The apathy is a joke. Folks, it ain't un-Christian to show emotion at a ball game.

yeh, I'm still willing to put my eggs in the basket of him not going to see the court...I mean, lets be honest...whats he going to say..."DUHHH I'm not good enough to play at Liberty University so I'm going somewhere else" no, and I don't blame him for not going around talking about that...you honestly think he would have stuck around if this rent thing was taken care of??? (if it wasn't already  ) heck no, he saw the writing on the wall....but i need to be careful about putting my eggs in one basket....heck i remember the last time i did that

"I sent my application in to The Real World, and Im pretty much putting all of my eggs in to that basket, the MTV basket... If my MTV career doesnt work out, I was thinking about buying a gun.. and selling crack. I would be like a friendly crack dealer, though. Nothing too formal. Id just be like Whats up? Want some crack?"
