I wouldn't feel comfortable with a member of the Liberty basketball program coming into a Big South Member's game. I don't know if Duggar Baucom and Jason Allison would like me bringing guys from the program. It is ok for me because I am not on staff and I am sort of media member I will have to tell you all about it Manger. I appreciate your enthusiasm though. And for the record I plan on being back well before 5. If you want to go to the game on your own, I can't stop you but I can't let you go with me on a VMI free ticket. You are still my man and you are a beast

There will be somewhat of a prank tomorrow night, it just won't be on a player from Longwood. A special few have seen what the prank will be, everyone else will have to wait. Howevah, I guarantee it'll be on tv if you're watching the game.

SJ, I have a green horn like that...I used to use it at football games. A friend of mine used one at the vines center, and was told that noisemakers were prohibited in the Vines Center.

I emailed the sports compliance director...I think her name was Meredith...she said it was a Big South rule. So then I wrote to the "Ask the Commissioner" on the Big South...and he said it was an NCAA rule.

So I looked up the rule...the rule prohibits the use of the noisemaker during play...but there is an astericks (or however you spell that)...and it says that play time does NOT include breaks and time-outs...so technically you CAN use a noisemaker during breaks and before foul shots...I think I can dig up a copy of the rule...you could tape it to the horn in case they try and take it off of you...

I was unable to find one in the area, and I order my horn online for about $7 I think...look at the theatre stores...I think there's one on Lakeside, they'd probably have them.

Here's the Big South rule regarding noisemakers at basketball games (from page 46 of the Big South Policy manual.. http://www.bigsouthsports.com/pdf6/4124 ... PSID=25625 ):

1.4.1.14 Crowd Control
b) No artificial noisemakers are permitted during games. The Conference policy will conform to the guidelines established in the NCAA Basketball Championship Manual. Whistles, air horns and electric amplifiers, unless as part of a band, are not permissible. Megaphones may be used for voice amplification purposes only. The game management official is responsible for removing such instruments from the competition area. Bands or any component thereof are not allowed to play while competition is in progress. Any device that electronically produces or amplifies sound is considered an electronic amplifier. The coach remains a key individual in influencing the crowd; therefore, game officials will enforce the NCAA Basketball Rules in regard to bench decorum, to the letter.

I tried to find the NCAA Championship Manual, but they don't seem to have one up yet on the NCAA website (they have Division II and Division III manuals up, and the rule is probably the same in all of them I guess, but I couldn't find anything when i quickly skimmed through those).

OK...found the 2006 Division I General Championship Manual ( http://www.ncaa.org/library/handbooks/g ... p_info.pdf ):

Artificial Noisemakers. Artificial noisemakers, air horns and electronic amplifiers
shall not be permitted, and such instruments shall be removed from the playing and
spectator areas. Bands, or any component thereof, shall not play while the game is in
progress. The tournament manager shall be responsible for enforcing these provisions.
