It looks like the betting line was Vandy -11. I feel like this is a pretty good fight against a good opponent, better than we saw from the football team.

Can someone do the math for what percentage of shots we would have to hit in a game like today? I don't follow basketball enough to do so accurately.

We are 6 for 25 from 3. Make 4 more of those and 9 of 16 from the free throw line. Make our normal percentage there and we would be right in it. Cabbil is normally a good FT shooter and he is 3 for 6 tonight. And 4 TO's. GPO brought his golf game to the game tonight. He was a non-factor. Those are two guys we need to have great games from to win these type games. CH struggled as well. Just a down game for us. Mostly in the 2nd half. Bright spots: DM had a great game. James was his usually self and Myo continued his solid season. Cuffee struggled as well as Gumbs. On to the next game. We will have more chances.
These guys are not a great team yet but they show signs. Time to go back to work and get better. Obviously not as good a shooting team as we thought thus far in the season.

Not a bad showing IMO. Garland is just an absolute stud for Vandy. One and done if he wants to be.

Ball movement was really good. Getting really good looks, they just were not falling. Also, as said, need to do better at the line.

I think they will be fine. I like their chances in the A-Sun.

We played a 3-0 SEC team and were even leading in the first half before Scottie James got in foul trouble. No shame in losing by only 9. McGhee is getting better in every game, and our Princeton-style backdoor plays were working to perfection. Just didn't shoot well from the 3-point line.

I am happy overall. We moved the ball well and for the most part got good shots. A lot of the shots that didn't fall are shots we have been making. This Vandy team is a good team and there is no way this could be considered a bad loss.

I am very happy with where this program is going.

Wonder what gill would say. Its a talent issue. Ha. What a joke. They had 2 5 stars i believe. Either way way more talent yet guess what. Coaching and preparedness produces a competitive result.

You stop with that logic and reason.

I know it's a small sample size (4 games), but McGhee might honestly be the most talented freshman we have had on the team since Stephen's little brother left to play for Coach K. I absolutely loved his fast break dunk on Vandy, and the SEC announcers were impressed by him, too.

A whole different ball game if just a couple of those shots fall in but yeah well. As for McGhee, wow. Dude is going to be one of our best players to ever suit up in a liberty uniform.

Garland is a stud. Some experts have him projected going top 5 in this years draft. I don’t think we’re going to face a player of his caliber until the UCLA game. Kris Wilkes and Moses Brown. Both projected first round picks, with Wilkes being projected going lottery.

I think he is better than Curry at this point in his career. (As you mentioned the small sample size). He plays defense, is unselfish and has a better basketball IQ. Really looking forward to see him mature further. He has a chance to easily become the best guard to ever play at LU.

I do not havee much time to follow hoops from afar, but this was a very good showing.
A ton of promise on this squad.

Unsupported opinions with no stats to back them up?

Here's how Steph's brother and McGhee compare after only 4 games (averages per game):

SC: 23 points, 37 minutes, 2 steals, 2.5 assists, 4.5 rebounds (playing Montreat, UVa, Coker, and W&M)

DM: 11 points, 24 minutes, 2 steals, 1 assist, 4 rebounds (Maine-FK, Trevecca, Kent, and Vandy)

Curry was allowed to chuck it. It was anthony smith ohman and curry. This is actually a good team and mckay is going to make him a better player by getting him to buy in. Mcghee def plays better d, has a better handle and is more athletic by a long shot. Shooting wise curry may have beem a hair bettet at this point.

Darius Garland tore his Miniscus Friday against Kent State, and will miss the rest of the season. It will be interesting to see if he still goes pro this year. Probably depends on where he projects to be drafted.

Will be interesting to see. Not saying he is as good as Kyrie Irving was, but I believe Kyrie only played 11 games at Duke before going #1 in the draft.

Garland looked very Kyrie-like in the game against us, getting to the rim at will and knocking down almost every decent look from the outside. Was definitely the difference in the game.

Torn meniscus is usually 4-6 weeks? ACL is season ending!?

Torn meniscus is usually 6 - 9 months. Source: Watched my step-dad, who is one of the most fit people I know, recover from this injury twice.

The operative word here is ¨usually¨. The fact that they have decided to shut him down for the year could indicate this is more serious than the usual meniscus, or just that they are looking more to his future than this year. If I were a betting man, I would put my money on his college career being over.
