When the tournament has held in the Burg, there were many games with decent crowds. When LU got to the finals the Vines was almost full. I would like to see that happen again soon.
I can remember 2-3K fans outside the Vines waiting for the game to begin and a mad rush to get the best seats, an hour before game time.
Sure about that 3-4 k? In the last finals appearance that LU was in vs CSU (@ Coastals new arena)- total attendance was 2532 with just under 1000 empty seats.. If the final is at LU that's one thing but not at other locations that hasn't been exactly true..

Very cool Periscope Manson . Tournament Basketball is very fun. Enjoy the premium seating.

Question, What time do you think the game will actually tip off. Trying to schedule my lunch break around going over to the cafe and watching. Manson said 2:30, schedule says 2:00 right ? I know it will depend on how Longwood vs Highpoint goes, I guess I will plan for 2:30.

If we win today, I will be making the trips, Saturday and Sunday.

And Lynchburg is no Charlotte, which is close enough to Rock Hill that people can get lodging and meals there if they can't find what they want in Rock Hill. Liberty has first class facilities for the most part, and Lynchburg is a well equipped host city, but it is toó far away from toó many BSC schools when more centrally located sites with adequate facilities are available. I agree that one sport where it should be considered is softball, where Liberty's facility is just in another league from the rest.

They already lost Brown, and are were without their 2nd team all conference PG today. If we win today, the Panthers are in a very vulnerable spot as a number 1 seed.

Not sure how much anyone cares, but it will be UNCA and Winthrop in the final today. Should be a good one. I think Winthrop may be the one BSC team who can stay with UNCA the way they are playing. For the récord, Cliff Ellis and the beach chickens made an inglorious éxit from the BSC with a quarterfinal loss to Gardner-Webb.

I find it amazingly bad luck for Scott Cherry to have the best player in the league perhaps ever in John Brown and only have him 2 of the 4 seasons in the post season. Plus High Point consistently has been in the top 5 often top 1 or 2 in Cherry's run and they have not been to a Big South Championship Game since 2004 when Bart Lundy got beat by 45 in the Vines Center. Most seasons they have been knocked off by a lower seed too. I just looked at the Big South Archives to confirm what I was thinking about HPU.

Winthrop and Asheville seem to always find a way to the Final game. One or the other in the 2000's almost every season it seems.

Since 1998 When Marshall took over at Winthrop, Winthrop or Asheville have been in the Final game all bout 3 or 4 times. Liberty won the tournament twice in that time period and didn't face them either time. VMI/Radford in 2009 and VMI/Coastal were the only times one or the other weren't in. So I guess that's 4 times. Winthrop is making it's 3rd straight appearance in the Final game. Finally on a neutral site so they have a chance to win it all. Pat Kelsey and Nick McDevitt have both done a great job.

You mean the MB Civic Center wasn't a neutral court? You must not have received the BSC talking points.

ESPN2 is showing the championship game at 2:30. JJ McCracken should have offered his services to the highest bidder.

Those tourneys were not played at the MB Cívic Center. They were held at the HTC Center, which is Coastal's new home court. I don't believe the BSC ever implied the venue was neutral. The promotional emphasis was all on Myrtle Beach as a destination, which it is.

Yeah it was a Myrtle Beach Package but it obviously was a home court advantage for Coastal. Prior to that it was the Highest seeded team's home court and that was during the Asheville Days of Dickey and Prim when they were the best team in the Conference year in and year out so the games were in Asheville.

18 point swing by UNCA today...quite impressive.

I mentioned elsewhere, if the pinheads at the conference office are anti-neutral site, there are only three valid on campus options left in the conference....

LW, HPU, CSU - not enough seats

CU - doubt they let them host back-to-back years, but according to reports, did a solid job hosting this one

UNCA - only way it happens is if BSC adjusts schedule to host tourney a week later, SOCON in Asheville until 2021

PC, G-W - enough seats, but not enough nearby infrastructure to support

3 remain:

LU - yes, go ahead and boast (just ignore Ephesians 2:9 for a second)

WU - good building and seating, Rock Hill can host it alone, but having CLT up the road doesn't hurt

RU - they've done it before, and have the seating although the quality may be meh.....

If they go neutral site, the newly renovated Bojangles Coliseum in Charlotte might be the choice....holds just under 9,000 now, but they could curtain off the balcony and ends and it might work. The renovation didn't hurt the comfy feel of the building, still a nice place to see a hockey game anyway.

Out of curiosity has anyone heard from Realist in the past few years?

Congrats to UNCA staff and team. Can't believe they were the 4 seed but obviously were much better than that late in the year. An absolutely great 2nd half. If they made FTs it would have been over even sooner. Most likely a play in game with 11 losses but hopefully they can get a good match-up. Good luck in the NCAA tournament!

Losing is never fun but at least we lost to the eventual Champs. They played with a purpose this past weekend and I wish them nothing but the best in the tourney.

Noticed that Winthrop's team had 5 players from Ohio. I'm glad that a team with players from the South actually won the Big South tournament. Go Asheville.
