I was for sure he was going down.. we may have needed those tow-trucks to get him to the stadium if he went down.

He's gonna be real sore tomorrow.

I can feel the love from Flamefans.com. You boys are brutal. Sitting behind the bench and heckling me like that. Shame shame shame  It was a lot of fun to play but more importantly to see my boys. I am loading my pix on Facebook.com for those of you that want to see everything we did Friday and Sat (tough football loss but that is for another thead).

Hence the reason they pull their chairs out to midcourt during TOs.

Or is that Coastal?

Either way, they hate me. :)

Look at Scar putting on a clinic with the finger pointing, splitting the defenders.

We're not worthy. We're not worthy!

Wow, documented evidence of me playing defense. I must have had a momentary laps. I know one thing. I am gonna get back in shape. Tired of playing like a scrub plus my knees are really begging me to ease their burden right now  Medic thanks for the pix! We had so much fun. Great to see a lot of these guys show up. I hope to have twice as many guys next season.

it really was fantastic to see the "old" faces- great turnout for a first time event.

Was telling MrsPA on the way home how cool it is to see alumni traditions in the beginning stages- starting things that other schools have taken for granted for decades now- but are new to our relatively young programs.

I hope this won't be taken the wrong way, but "Hip Hop" is everything that is wrong with basketball. I say ditch the "hip, hop" music. To me, Hip Hop is more than music, it represents a culture of corruption and crime. I guess I'll have to side with the unpopular Bill Cosby on this one.

Wow..that's a sweeping generalization right there. Granted, there is some hip hop that represents a culture of corruption and crime, but to throw the whole genre and culture of hip hop into that category seems to be way too simplistic of an argument.

Hip hop culture and hip hop music are two completely different things.

LUconn is right, you opened the can of worms, and WEF puts it very wellas does SJ. kel, that is quite the racist comment or maybe i should say a comment of ignorance. there is some "hip hop" that many white people listen to as well. "hip hop" is not just a "black thing". i see your point that the NBA, made of primarliy black players, listen to "hip hop", but i think it is more rap they listen to, but i could be wrong im not a player. the fact is "hip hop" gets the players going, it gets the fans going, it provides a bit of energy. even at the whitest schools, i have heard "hip hop". if you were at midnight madness, the music was tired and very old. there was zero energy in the buliding. the culture of baggy pants, doo rags, ethnic hats etc. is blended in with the rap lifestyle and the hip hop lifestyle.i just don't get how you can say hip-hop music hurts basketball! it makes zero sense. im rambling so im gonna stop, but your comments kel are off base. and BTW, when you say " i hope this is not taken wrong", or i hope this does not offend anyone" maybe you should think a bit about the words you are about to speak.

Lighten up, Smoothie. I don't think he intended on getting racial with the comment. That sounds almost like FOX canning Steve Lyons for a relatively innocent remark. PC run amock.

WOW! Somebody's got some guts! I'm too old and out of touch to know the difference between rap and hip hop, but if what "junk" I hear from some of the cars driving around the LA area is either one of the two, then I'm on board with those who are calling it corrupt.

BTW, I think that alumni thing was wonderful - great to see (through the posted pics) the guys on the court and hoopin -

AG i retracted my racist statement and said it was a comment of ignorance, so i really do not have to lighten up. so it is PC when a someone who is black thinks that a comment is not well thought out? im not gonna argue with you about htis. this is a msg board, and im free to express my opinion.

I agree with Bigsmooth. The music was terrible at midnight madness and hip hop music can get the crowd going. The place was dead that night. The people running the sound don't know what they are doing when it comes to music. The crowd was not into anything at midnight madness.

I'm as white as they come, and all I listen to is hip-hop. Yes, alot of it can be defined as corrupt, but not everything. I've had several heated discussions with my mother on this topic when I was a teenager. She thought I shouldn't be listening to it because it presented a negative culture, but I thought that I was in the right since what I was listening to was by christian artists.

I don't see anything wrong with playing hip hop at basketball games. No problem at all.

Sorry 'bout that, Smoothie. I did not see where you retracted. I now retract my "ligten up" statement. Yes, your argument was well thought-out. Perhaps my reply was not.

Painting a whole culture or genre with a sweeping brush is usually not very accurate. I will say that a lot of rap and hip hop is not worthly to be listened to in terms of content. I however am guilty of listening to Biggie, Puffy, Outcast etc. and some of it is really graphic. However the composition and arrangements are really good and the hooks are infectious and that is what gets folks into hip hop and that is what makes hip hop a crowd pleaser. As far as JC listening to Christian hip hop, I see nothing wrong at all with that. The lyrics and message are positive. Hip hop in and of itself is not corrupt. You have to listen to the words to discern what is corrupt and what is not but it is not all bad. I would say play the popular songs without the words if you want to get the crowd into whats going on at an event like that.

The type of music you listen to is up to you. It should have no generalization of race.

In terms of Liberty, this is a 'dinstinctively' Christian university. Therefore, at sporting events, our message in terms of music will remain that as one of a distinctive Christian.

There are plenty great Christian bands/hiphop artists that are upbeat and postive that could get the crowd going and pumped up. I like the idea of playing "big time" rap arists instrumentals. Something to get the players moving. I don't care who you are, you're not getting pumped up to dunk to Relient K.
