No player in double figures says it all.

Went to first game tonight... My observations -

*Our talent level sucks
*Our team cannot shoot, I mean at all.
*Layer substitutes more then any coach I have ever seen. No chance to get anymore unit playing together... It was like he was a middle school coach and was trying to get everyone playing time.
*He pulled every player who had a negative play.
*Not sure why we stayed in a zone the whole game and gave CCU so many open wide open looks at 3's.
*Looks to me like we had a height advantage, but not once did we put two bigs on the floor at once and pound it down low?
*The crowd was pitiful and there's no school spirit anymore. There was one guy standing in a box, making a fool of himself - no one joined him, just made fun of him...
*Vines Center looks nice and there's no way we shouldn't be competitive with these facilities.
*Smith is amazingly athletic, but I saw no plays being run to take advantage of that...

Looking at rostet on back of game program. We have np player from Virginia . i believe nearest one is Pennsylvania . then Indiana . then Florida . Why can we not recruit locally or regionally . Lots of good playets from state on rosters of otherD1 teams.

CCU has 7 players from Carolinas. yet we have none from Virginia or even a bordering state .

If you had been to more than just that one game, you'd know that that was a pretty decent crowd (without many students) by comparison.

Got to agree with you that even though LU has a national footprint, you've got to find a player or two from the Commonwealth to put on the roster. Not every D-1 level prospect from Richmond, Norfolk, or Roanoke is a Satanist or Muslim.

We finally turned things around a bit talent-wise with Holtmann by getting a couple of NC players to stay home. Nelson from Charlotte being the biggie.
