I'd rather our men's bball not be popular by being the class slut, thanks.

The RPI is so meaningless. The only reason Liberty's RPI is so low is because it hasn't played a high-level P5 team. I'm not denying LU is one of the worst teams in the country, but that metric is a flawed one in the non-conference season.

Unfortunately, we have a lot of "role players" when you need a couple of studs supported by role players. One never knows where the scoring is going to come from when everyone is a role player. The offensive system only works when you have those 1-2 scorers. We get down to 10 seconds on the shot clock and nobody wants to take the shot nor do we set up our "studs" to take the shot. The result is 25 seconds into the shot clock, we start pressing and eventually force up a shot or make a TO. I say when you get an open look just shoot it and crash the offensive boards, press full court to generate offense from defense so you don't have to continually run half court sets. Lastly, limit the rotation to 8-9. Too many players playing now that contribute nothing other than giving starters a breather. My 2 cents.

Per Chris Lang:
"I asked this question on Twitter during the game, and I’ll ask it here: When the shot clock is running down, who does Liberty turn to for a shot? Who is the Flames’ offensive rock? I don’t think they know, and that might be as big of a thing to solve at this point as the turnover issue."

Thanks for making my point.

Anybody missing John Caleb Sanders yet? He used to love dribbling into the paint when the shot clock was running down.

Barber needs to unofficially reach out to Sean Sutton at ORU, and/or Al Skinner at Bryant University and hire someone with the right coaching pedigree to generate a winning culture on the basketball court. With the success of baseball and football, the excuse that you can’t recruit basketball talent at Liberty is falling to the wayside. Bottom line Layer lacks the skills needed to be a winning division one basketball coach and his overall record at this school validates my statement.

Excellent post above by Chippy. I posted something similar earlier in the season.

For the record, I went to the Virginia Tech-VMI game Monday night. I believe everyone of VMI's 5 starters and half of their bench are all better than anyone LU can put on the floor. We are lacking in talent and coaching/recruiting.

I am not happy with the way our team has performed either, but that's just stupid. VMI and LU both played the Hokies at Cassell. We lost by 10 and they lost by 13. Somehow I believe we have at least 1 or 2 players who could fit in their rotation. For someone who calls himself a "coach", some of the stuff you come out with is ridiculous. Unfortunately, with the Keydet's move to the SoCon, we won't get to find out on the court.

We probably have one player who could start for VMI, maybe.

47 points against Princeton. That's not a good high school score. We are offensively challenged.

Well, you just contradicted your previous statement, but that's nothing new, since you clearly don't think before you click the submit button on a fair share of your posts. For some reason though, I am still curious to know which of our players you have honored by saying he might be good enough to start for VMI.

I'm not sure we have too many if any players that could fit in VMi's rotation. But that's a unique offense so it's really not a good comparison
