ANOTHER game where we blow a lead and an opposing player had a career game. What is it going to take to get us to the next level because we do not have it. Peace out Flames. I'll be watching from home the rest of the season.

WARNING: Emotional Post

This is a freaking embarrassing loss. Same old story. How long do we have to put up w/ this crap? Tired of seeing Layer's concerned look and furrowed brow. WIN SOME FREAKING GAMES, MY GOD! They are one of the worst in the country, I don't care that they've had our number. Excuses are the easiest thing in the world. Same old lousy play.

I agree. They crapped the bed against High Point and now lost to a very, very bad BS team. Good luck cracking 1,500 in attendance the rest of the season.

Longwood with their first conference win. Just glad that I didn't drive all the way to Farmville for this one.

I have never been a hater on barber but his decision to extend layer is looking worse every week. This season is shot. Winning the tournament wont change my mind.

Is that 1500 per game or 1500 total

That was painful. Really didn't protect the ball down the stretch. JC really gave us some wasted possessions - walks, poor ball handling - that really hurt.

Woodhouse got way too many good looks. He absolutely killed us. Anyone else think he was getting the last shot :>) - yet we don't deny him the ball - or at least attempt to deny him the ball? That was way too easy for Longwood - that last possession. Burris ran out on him but he still had a great look - too good for a guy who had killed us all night from 3.

Like Groundhog Day year after year. I really hoped the run last year could help generate a different team this year - but we really aren't very good at all.

Still going to drive down from PA for the game Saturday night so at least 3 of the 1500 will be accounted for.

Go Flames.

I'm glad it appears everyone is on the same page as me. We should never lose to Longwood....ever. I know I know, that sounds really arrogant and homer-ish. However, we have larger aspirations (FBS) and way more money than Longwood will ever have. It's like comparing a mansion to a trailer park. We are recruiting against them and yet somehow, the kids going to Farmville are consistently beating us at their court. With our facilities, etc these games should never be close. I think Layer is a good dude and a good coach just not sure he is HC material for the destination we all hope to get to..

That's enough. We need to clean house in the basketball department. My criticisms are that there seems to be no chemistry on this team which is a result of piecemeal, short term, and scattershot recruiting. Read poor judgement. I have seen enough. This product is lousy. When is football season?

^THIS!^

Always a Flames Fan! But this is a bad team and it does not appear that the current coaching staff is capable of developing a winning program.

Even with a complete Nacho Revolution, maybe not.

On the bright side, your dumpster fire of a program at least made the big dance last year. Ours didn't resemble a dumpster fire until Burch crapped the bed with the Craft hire. We'll be stuck battling the Calvinists for the South cellar for the next two years at least until the grossly inept amateur HC we have, Tim-eh, is shown the door.

EL_YU wrote:http://www.libertyflamesnation.com/the- ... /#comments basically what started this was the Lancers Blog guy posting in MidMajorMadness.com that Liberty basketball players were so unhappy with coach Layer that they asked fans to not attend games. As far as I know, that is not a bit true, and Parks himself said that he did not take much stock in the source (yet it was reliable enough to post anyway??). He is no stranger to taking shots at the school via twitter or Lancers Blog ( http://lancersblog.com/2014/01/22/sande ... lynchburg/ ).. After FN posted FlamesFans comments where Parks claimed to be an LU supporter, this started a debate in the comments...
Do you guys have nothing better to do then feud with some other blogger? Very BJWilliamsesque.

As far as this game tonight goes. Just much of the same. Layer is a great guy but he isn't a D1 head coach.

Our guard play has been recently declining and the forwards/centers are getting better. Teams have found a way to slow us down by putting a lot of pressure on JC and putting a bigger player on Davon-basically negating their presence and effectiveness. We are very thin at the 1/2 with Retic the most reliable sub but his play is not very impressive.

Too many TOs and giving up too many easy looks at the basket. That's how a guy who averages 10 points a game gets 27. The box and one should have ceased log before it did or we should have done a diamond and two since there were two primary shooters. I also think we should have fouled Woodhouse before the shot with @ 4 or 5 seconds left since we still had one more foul to give/ called the last T/O and set up our defense.

I am a loyal fan and will support the team and pray for the team and their morale and success and the coaching staff as well. I too will be among the 1500.

Beej.... Exactly. We lose all the time like this to opponents we need to be beating. It's not like we went out and lost to WKU or ODU, this is Longwood. Same Story every season. Time for change.

Prayer is good but this is about building an athletic program to bring excitement to the campus. Longwood 1-14 vs D1, 342 in RPI. IMO LU continues to under achieve with the these programs. Thankfully Jerry Jr continues to build 50 million dollar buildings so the attention is off the athletic department. Like I said earlier Layer struck lightning in a bottle to blind us from a serious sub par season a year ago maybe the magic will re-appear.

Liberty Basketball alone spends more $$$ on pre game meals and uniforms than Longwood has in the entire athletic budget, that being said it's not easy to win in a cracker box gym... But you can't lose at home in front of 5000 fans either... Wide open conference. Win over Campbell is impressive.

VERY bad team. It is a tough decision coming up. Seems like we have a good recruiting class coming in. Do they still come if we have a coaching change? Layer seems to be a great guy, but the wins are not there and that is really what makes one successful. We should NEVER lose to Longwood in anything, even tiddly winks,
Being, I don't really care about basketball, I will just watch with interest from afar and see what happens.
