Yesterday’s blue-white game gave us a good idea of where the Flames are going into the 2013-2014 season. Unlike many preseason scrimmages that are filled with havoc and mayhem, the Flames looked like a veteran team.
Blue Team: Davon Marshall, Chad Donley, Tomasz Gielo, Andrew Smith, Joel Vander Pol, Devon Pekas, and Ryan Kemrite
White Team: Casey Roberts, Joe Retic, Ethan Layer, Wesley Alcegaire, Antwan Burrus, J.R. Coronado, and Sommy Ogukwe.
John Caleb Sanders did not play.

1. High Point
Last Season: 17-14 (12-4), 1st in North, 1st round CIT
Top Returners: John Brown (6-8 F, 16.4 points, 6.1 rebounds), Allan Chaney (6-9 F, 14.5 points, 8.1 rebounds), Adam Weary (6-3 G, 10.2 points)
Outlook: With two of the best big men in the conference now having a year of experience under their belt, and the Panthers losing virtually none of their top players, there is no reason to think they won’t at least match their 12-4 Big South record. After getting their first taste of postseason play last year, the Panthers will be hungry for more.

Speaking of which, here's the final one, on the centers. We'll get after Big South team breakdowns next week after media day at the beach next Thursday:

Liberty tips off the season with a home exhibition against local opponent Randolph College. They then head to Williamsburg, VA to take on William and Mary before heading back to Lynchburg for contests against Eastern Carolina and UNC Wilmington.
