JVP wasnt playing and wasnt even there. In my opinion I dont think JVP should get a lot of minutes with what I have seen from him the last 3 years and what I see with the new guys we have. I would rather see those minutes go to Sommy, Tomaz, and Andrew Smith.
 If that is what you would rather see, then you want to see soft post play. There is nothing wrong with it if you want them taking jump shots, but you arent getting any rebounds an no one is posting up. Our biggest issue the last few years is there hasnt been someone on the block getting the ball to open up the rest of the floor. At the middle/end of last year JVP and Antwan started to do that and we were really turning the corner. If that is your preference that is fine, but if they get the minutes, we have 0 post-play (although Im sure Sommy will make a play or 2).
What we lack is a post defensive presence - a shot blocker/rebounder, etc.

He was well on his way to becoming a defensive force in the paint at the end of his Freshman year. He can be the best shot blocker we have had since Aluma.

That's a set up discussion framed to ignore Dunton's final years. The discussion should be the state of the program since the '04 championship. Was that parlayed or wasted and what has been accomplished.

I thought you were moving on TBGBG. Apparently not. If you want to spend the time, you can find youtube clips of every premiere shot-blocker on the planet getting it in their face from lesser dunkers than John Williams. FYI, he is now doing it for a living for the Trotters. Sommy averaged a shot block every 10 minutes he was on the court his Freshman year, and was doing better than that at the end of the season.

you could also look at it as how much Ritche and Seth propelled our program by and when they left we came back down to earth

Yeah Ritchie and Seth both lost in a Conference Semi Final game to a Military college by 20 plus and 2 weeks before that by 40 at home on senior night... nice propelling!!

It's not propelling if you cant sustain it -- its called a 1 hit wonder.

Ritchie was and is a joke. (Liberty job was a band-aid for him professionally) yet you guys take up for him. If he didn't inherit Smitty from RD he wouldn't have won 15 games. Also he only won 16 games with TJ, McLean, Smitty, etc...

RD isn't or wasn't the best coach, but at least he recruited players that could finish in the top 4 of the BSC!

Are we seriously already starting this discussion? It's September.

The men's BB forum: where we talk about the same thing every year

That's a very valid point, which is almost totally overlooked in the discussions here. You have to rise before you can fall. I hate how he left as much as anyone, but things were looking pretty good for the program a couple of months into 2009.

so 5 years ARD = things were looking good for a couple of months. NICE!
Not what I said. That entire season generated a lot of excitement and promise. In February (2 months into 2009) the outlook was bright. Then the problems started with Brolin Floyd's departure and went downhill from there.

Our APR is better and we have 2 scholarships back.

T or C -- I agree with recruiter part. Not being a tremendous coach part... Point being, in 5 years as HC who did RD beat that he SHOULD NOT have beaten? Did he over achieve ever?
Exactly, he recruited good enough to be a top the BSC.

I noticed in the quote of Troll of Craziness it failed to respond to an actual fact. I do agree with your point, however, I feel that some would point to theUVAwin in his interim year would fit that category

I was just giving both sides of the argument. I think it's completely irrelevant because of the time since he was let go and all of the things that had happened since.
