Does anyone know when we last signed a recruit that averaged 28 points per game???

I have no idea what the correct answer is as I have just recently begun following the Flames, but I coached against Jeremy Monceaux in high school and I bet he was very close to that number. He was hard to stop in the low classification he played in.

JC Sanders put up pretty big numbers as a Junior. He was hurt his Senior year. Of course, when it comes to HS scoring, it will be pretty tough to top Steve Farquar's 50ppg, but that also proves that big numbers against pitiful competition in HS do not necessarily translate into D1 ball.

With SCAR's defense, did he hold Steve under 50?

Kelly Assinesi averaged 27ppg his senior season. Holds a state record for scoring 49 in a playoff game.

Interesting that this was talked about on my birthday and I am just now seeing it....No Steve got 53 against us. He was a tough HS player. I averaged 28 in HS btw. There have been a lot of Liberty recruits I think that averaged that much I think. I know Monceaux was one for sure. Eric Pothoven also comes to mind. He was Mr. Basketball in Iowa during Aluma's days.

Quite possible, although he is being handled differently. Woods wasn't redshirted, and saw action at garbage time from day one, which made it more obvious he didn't fit into future plans. The fact that they have decided to redshirt Wesley would seem to indicate that they think he has some potential or at least want him to believe they do.

and CJ 28 PPG don't mean anything. remember Jeremy Monceaux?
Jeremy takes a lot of flack on here, and I'm not saying none of it is deserved, but he started for us as a true freshman, averaged almost 9ppg, shot 85% from the line, and won a couple of conference games with clutch shots down the stretch. He was on the BSC all-freshman team. Woodson and Blair arrived the next year, Monceaux got hurt, and next thing you know his career at Liberty was over.

Dees also arrived that year Oldflame. Yeah Monceaux was not a bad player. Blair, Dees and Woodson were just exceptional players. My old Teammate Steve Farquahar averaged 49 a game. I averaged 28 a game. I know many guys that have averaged that many points in HS and not even played college basketball. HS average means very little by itself. You have to evaluate way more than that. I think it is good that Wes is redshirting especially if he isn't going to play that much. I hope Larry Taylor redshirts too. I don't recall seeing him on Saturday at Howard now that I think about it but I could be wrong.

I didn't mention Dees because I didn't see him as competing with Monceaux for time due to the roles they played, but in the bigger picture, it certainly made it tougher for Jeremy to carve out a spot.

Larry Taylor has seen a few minutes in almost every game this year SCAR. I don't think he can redshirt any more, and in fact I recall some comments by Layer which seemed to indicate they think he can play a bigger role later this season. That of course remains to be seen.

Taylor has appeared in 7 games which is right around the cutoff to get a medical redshirt if you file one for injury. Pretty easy to do still at this point. If he gets to 10 games or plays in the second semester then I would concur that it is too late to redshirt. I have heard that Dale may have plans for Larry in conference too but I'm not sure if that is true.

As for Dees, the reason I mentioned him is that I look at a team as perimeters and bigs. If Dees wasn't playing 20 min per game then they could have run more 3 guard stuff with Blair, Monceaux and Woodson on the floor at the same time. Dees' emergence made that tougher.
