What? I said we need to figure out a way to stop the PG penetration? See I'm fair and balanced! :D
haha good point...I am just as guilty of it anyways..

was that the improper use of the word "guilty"??? Where is BJ when I need him!!????

Back on topic I think the timing of this game is no good. There is a weekly Bible study at my house during that time, the BigSouth should ALWAYS consult me when it has to do with tournament games for Liberty!

Nice, at the end of my work day you are still going at it.

Ok Haize, I promise that I will work diligently from here on out at making all my personal posts on this Flame Fans board more theologically astute for you & everyone who reads them.

I am sorry. I issue a public apology in full view for all to see. I also publically & very humbly recant of my previous heretical views. You are right. I am wrong. God definitely does not care at all about any recreational sport(s) & that definitely includes Liberty Flames basketball! I feel so ashamed.

Now, with that being said, even the dead horse is pleading with you from the grave to put down the stick & stop beating it. For the love of God, listen to the horse!

Thanks Sly for at least trying to help. I made my reply at the beginning of my work day, & Haize you are at the end of my work day are still battling out what I'd said in a single sentence. Opphs! No one should need a bible or theological degree in order to make posts on the Flame Fans board.

Honestly, I was trying more to make a point that beating CSU and UNC Asheville is going to be tough. There is no way around it. In context: at the time prior to my (blasphemous) post some had suggested that Liberty might otherwise roll over its competition. I was merely trying at the time to make a point that defeating a great UNC Asheville team (w/ home court advantage the entire tournament) & beating a good CSU were almost going to require the divine.

For the record, I am not saying that Liberty is going to lose against Charleston Southern & or UNC Asheville either. I would very much like Liberty to win the entire tournament! I simply believe that Liberty’s tournament road will be difficult this year against some great competition. And we are going to have to be near flawless in order to advance or win. The Big South is decent this year. It should make for a great & exciting tournament!

Go Flames!

Please: let’s talk about the CSU game.

In other words, let’s get off the soap box & stop throwing our endless jabs.

This whole thing is stupid guys. If someone wants to pray for LU, go right ahead. If Haize chooses not to, and we lose, we can all come here and blame Haize for the loss (and Barber) :D

Whether someone thinks prayer will win games for LU is their decision. I don't think God really cares, but who am I to tell another person what to do? Libertyfan4life, go right ahead and pray as often as you'd like my friend. You're more than welcome to do so here. 8)

It's not that bad in person. I was thouroughly impressed with UNCA's new digs last Thursday. Just a tip, they have a parking garage that is linked right to it as well, but it will likely fill up early tomorrow with UNCA playing the early game of the night session.

As for postman's Bible study dilemma, why not take Phil. 3:14 and spin it into an object lesson (excuse) to montior the proceedings in Asheville? :brightidea

Since apparently no one read the rest of my posts, and took the oe line barb WWAAYYY to seriously, i will try it again....? :dontgetit
So, how do we defend the dribblepenetration from the PG andor limit their FB points? I mean I need that info so I can give it to JB so we can make sure DL does the opposite! The plan would have worked too if it wasn't for you meddling kids!

With a player like him I'd almost prefer to concede the 3. Once he gets into the lane, a lot of bad things can happen to us. Plus if you turn him into a jump shooter early, hopefully he will become less aggressive in attacking the rim by taking the path of least resistance. I wonder if we could put Walt out there for a 'nickle' package!

Walt has trouble defending without fouling. I'll be stunned if anyone outside of the usual seven (plus maybe an Andrew Smith cameo) gets into the game tonight. Jesse Sanders and Speaks did a great job defending the bounce against a really athletic Campbell team on Saturday. This should be a great battle of wills, because Sanders and Kelvin Martin are two of the really great warriors in this league. Looking forward to a fun day of hoops.

I only saw the game up here. I know they put Walt on him occasionally and he did a good job on him in spots. He just seemed to get into the lane at will and I know first hand what a guard who can break you down in the lane can do. But, and you alluded to this, this is the time of year where you really shorten your bench. On the other hand throwing multiple defenders at him may not be the worst idea ever.
Nothing sounds like more fun to me then spending all day in a gym watching hoops. I'm sooo jealous Crybaby Until I see SCAR will be there........

Yes I remember VERY WELL...and you won!

flamehunter wrote:Chris - do you see any upsets in the other games?
The only one I can see is Winthrop over Campbell. Not sure how much of an upset that would be. Eagles have underachieved all year. If Andre Jones finds his shot, they can make a run. Morgan is playing better of late and has been a real offensive help.

I have a question concerning Pre Tournament Coaching.

I watched the quick interview with David M. and he and Alen both mentioned how the coach tried to "jam them up" and see how they would respond.

I watched a documentary on one of the best highschool basketball coaches of all time, Bobby Hurley Sr. , and it was the practice before their tournament. He kicked kids out of practice, and really shook them up.

Is this a normal practice or coaching ploy?

It's a normal ploy. So you are right on both accounts. I'm generally not a fan of it but it does depend on the make up of your team. If your team is acting squirrely then you might want to try that, but you'd hope your players would take are of it themselves.
