There really hasnt been enough "dead time" to be able to get that done with the men's home opener last Friday, the women's home opener last night and the men playing I think three straight nights and the women playing a home game next Tuesday night. There is a nice window of time where the only event from the 25th-December 6 is the women's home game vs JMU so they have enough time to get that put in at that point.

Well, my guess of it being completed after the season is over is coming closer to reality!

Maybe I'm an idiot but wouldn't have it made sense to work on it during the summer :dontgetit

there is an "I" beam in the vines above the invisible cloud. Must be for the scoreboard.

There's no "I" in beam...for whatever reason it was the first thing that popped in my head when you said that lol

walked by today and they had some big machinery out on the court (with plywood underneath so not to damage the bball floor, of course) Looked like they were running electrical wiring.

Update:

They put new shot clocks on the basketball hoop- somewhat NBA style... they're pretty cool, and there's also a clock and shot clock on the hoop that faces the crowd.

There's a square-ish addition above the cloud on the I-beam... Can't wait for this to be up. It better be up when I set foot on campus again come January =]

AD Jeff posted a picture on twitter yesterday of the workers putting together the frame on the court.

Doubtful. It may be up, but from all I'm hearing, it's unlikely to be functional. Maybe by the men's games next week. I could be wrong, but that's what I've been told.

That makes the most sense...no need to rush it and end up having to make fixes between games

No need to install it during the summer months either, you know, when nothing's really going on. It just wouldn't make sense to do that.

I dont know the inner workings of Mr Spence's office (and Im not saying you do or dont either jbock) but Im guessing that this was sometihng they wanted to go ahead and get done because the money was made available to them (Id guess by some donation), and adding to that the troubles with a) the screens in the Vines Center and b) possible further issues with the cloud (remember the piece falling out last year?) made the timing of the project pretty easy.

What's the update on the scoreboard. I know 1 of the 5 fans at the women's game had to see something. You guys are killing me you have to keep me updated until I head back on Thursday to work the men's game. :banghead Play Basketball

I know he does but I can only stalk his twitter so much. I figured because of the home women's game some would have an update speaking the skeleton was chilling on the floor two days ago. Had to go somewhere.

The shell of the cube scoreboard was hanging at the ladies game tonight: there were two panels and lots of metal (think 1960s erector set).

Nice. I had one of those growing up. I liked it almost as my Matchbox 500 race set and more then my Lincoln Logs

I had the one that had a lever you had to pull when the car went over the spot and it would propel it around the track. It wasn't electric. Anyone else have one

I had the same one, Haize. It had a loop as well for both lanes. I can't imagine today's kids finding it at all interesting. Frankly I am shocked at what the kids today do find worthy of chewing up copious amounts of time. At first I thought it was just my son, but it seems all the kids would rather play Pokemon cards & DSi/3DS/DSXL than use their imagination. But I digress ....
