The scoring will come from the 5 players on the floor. Somehow I think we can find 14 extra points from the other guys looking for more shots plus 33 extra minutes that are up for grabs.

We also have to replace JB's 11 points

No Sly Fox, don't. Don't tell us.

I don't get why people who aren't employees decide they shouldn't post what they know.

I have been observing some practices in the vines and Tavares looks like a very competent shooter and is extremely quick, by far the quickest person(on the team) to get down the court...and score. He looks to be another star on the team Gielo also looks aggressive and I never saw him miss a three paired up w/Sommy. Our team is no doubt much taller and many seemed to have bulked up. it looks like our team will be very aggressive and dominate, but with this comes the possibility of more fouls.

This is all from the observation of 3-4 practices and like we all know practice and game time are very different.

All of this said I do not for see a rebuilding year but a year again in which we have a legitimate shot at the big south championship.

At least Brown wont be able to make false promises this year.. jk  love ya John Brown praying for a quick recovery!

Any update on Sommy? I was hoping for big things from him this year - he clearly has the best physical tools of anyone on the team.

I have heard, from people who are not connected, that Sommy is done for the year.

As bad a bit of news as that may turn out to be, lets wait to get confirmation from our resident scribe...who is connected

Other people are connected besides Chris. He's probably a little busy. He doesn't need you bugging him about every rumor.

Another season-ending injury, but that means more playing time for the freshmen--Baird, Gielo, and Smith.

I'll say:

1- Jesse, Chene
2- JCS, Tavares
3- Minaya
4- Burris, Baird
5- JVP, Sommy
Limited playing time for Gielo, Gliedman and Smith
Out for the season in RED. Do we keep both Burris/Baird at the 4 or move one of them to the 5?

I'm thinking Burris and JVP will still both start along side one another, but they're really our only 2 guys we have that can play the 5. So you should see at least one of them on the floor at all times. You'll likely see either Gielo or Smith move into the rotation at the 4 with Sommy gone. I'm not sure if we can go small with Minaya at the 4.

Our best scenario is for JVP to step up and play major minutes at the 5, with Burrus probably moving over when he needs a break. Smith is listed at 6'9" and 220 (same weight as Burrus) so although he hasn't played the post much, he could probably fill in in a pinch.

We'll be seeing a lot of youth at the 4 and 5 positions. Minaya is not a banger or rebounder and is limited to the 3 position. With 4 guys 6'8" and over we should do okay in the long run and throw in Burrus we should be okay on the blocks. What JB gave us was more of a transitional game with his speed, jumping ability and acrobatics - we'll miss that.

Anyone seen practice? How do our big guys look? Will Baird make Texas and LSU wish they had landed him? How is Gielo's defense - can he defend a swing player at the 3? Will Andrew Smith contribute as a freshman? What's the biggest improvement JVP has made?

Sommy is not out for the year, results came back from the MRI and its a sprain, he could be out the first few games but not the entire year.

Did none of you read my last post on here?

Speaks looks very promising (by far the quickest guy on the squad) and Gielio looks like a double threat. He drains threes and has the height and ability to make defensive plays. Our guys look bulkier especially Burrus and Sommy. I believe (beieve it or not) there is much depth to our team (gasp).

All of this said this is just PRACTICE I have observed so until gameday this is all pure speculation.

We were picked fourth due to Browns injury but I believe like last season which we were preseason 6th I believe, that we will again prove ourselves a team strong and determined!

(proof of what I said about Sommy came from John Brown at the volleyball game the other night)

So you're saying that Gielio is the second coming of Image
