I'm tired of hearing "look at the roster," "we have no talent," blah blah blah

Evan Gordon is very talented
Jesse Sanders is talented
John Brown is talented
David Minaya is talented

I'll take those 4 over any other 4 in the league.

Behind those 4 are very hard working role players. What is exactly what this team needs.

Don't take away from what these guys have done by saying they're not talented.

Couldn't agree more Alum82!

JC I'm not saying this team isnt good.....or even great. I just think it's silly to talk about it being a "historic" team because we're having a good year. The high's are often to high here on FF and the lows are often to low. This team is great...let's just appreciate what they are doing now....we wont hang a banner in the vines saying "2010-2011 Best Team in History" but we will hang one up saying Big South Champions if we're lucky enough to win it all.

That's all I'm saying

Of course there won't be any banners for any team that doesn't win a championship HMO. We are speculating and giving opinions. Isn't that what discussion boards are for? If this team breaks the record for most wins in a season and others as well as the record they have already set for most wins in conference, I don't see anything wrong with saying they have made some history in the context of the program, or discussing how good they are relative to some other teams we have had (even if they don't win the tournament.)

BTW, what's up with the backhanded knocks on Jeff Meyer's coaching ability? Don't get me started on that.

With all due respect to Jeff Meyer, he was young when he first became LU coach in 1983?, and I, along with others don't think he was ready to handle the D-1 pressure and talent that was on his rosters thru those years.

Maybe I'm reading more into this than is there, or maybe it's a typo and he meant 04 instead of 94, but that looks like a knock on Meyer to me.

You are right about one thing BigSouthKing. Jeff Meyer was only 26 years old when he took the job at LU. At the time he was the youngest head coach in college basketball at any level. and he grew with the program from NCCAA to NAIA to NCAA D2 and finally D1, and had a winning record at every level. He has also been able to remain continuously employed coaching basketball as a high-major assistant, which is more than we can say for most of our former coaches.

It is a historic year. Already. Most conference wins ever.

By the time it's over, we may have the highest final RPI ever, highest wins as a D1 team, etc.

SCAR just led off the pregame by saying that Liberty is "in the midst of a historical season." I know you read this thread SCAR. How about some props?
