hmmm, I thought Konan looked like he was going to be solid in a few years. But I guess he does play the same spot as Burrus and JVP and probably Baird too so it's a little bit of a log jam.

Konan would be best suited playing the two. He has some good off the dribble skills and can shoot the ball. Playing him inside was a necessity this year, but he was clearly playing out of position.

I thought Konan was more of a three than a two. I actually thought he would start there next year. I hate to see people leave because I think Liberty is a great school but it is what it is and good luck to them wherever they go.

Super must be a good judge of talent, because I had Konan pegged as a 3 as well.

I think Konan could have eventually developed into a 2 guard, but I agree with SJ that for the next couple of years he would probably fit best at SF. Both he and Burrus were clearly out of position playing the 4 and the 5. If we can get solid play out of JVP and Carter in the post, Burrus can be a hoss at the 4. Jeremy can play the 3 (that's where he was most of the time this year) Depending on which of the newcomers makes an impact, I could also see us using a linup at times with Jesse playing a "point forward" and running the offense while guarding the opposing SF and, of course, rebounding like a demon. :flamingdevil

Konan is leaving to pursue playing in the NBA as a 2. He believes playing the 2 gives him the best shot to play at that level and wants to transfer to a school that could help him pursue that.

Good luck to him.

I think you'll see quite a bit of that with Caleb and Evan as the two guards, Antwan at the 4, and Joel at the five. That's just my personal opinion and I have no clue who else we're going to sign. I think we may also see Dave move over and play the 3 a little which is more of his natural position.

Patrick demonstrated a very good work ethic in his year as a Flame, and IMHO he'll need to put it to the test on improving his handle and his jump shot if he wants to play the 2 any time soon at the D1 level.

I dont know if PK would be able to get much of a look at an NBA roster unless he shows something pretty big in the next month or two before the draft. He may get a look at a summer league roster at that rate but I dont know if he'll be playing under the lights right out unless he was held back because he was playing the 3 instead of the 2.

BJ we know this, but what do you tell a teen who is confident they make their dreams come to life.

EDIT: Oh BJ wow, yeh...even PK doesnt see this in the near future. That's why I mentioned leaving to go to a school to help pursue this.

Thanks for clarifying HMO...I hope he finds a great place to land and can make an impact as soon as he gets there (even while sitting out)

Or maybe Ritchie could use him up at C-ville, since their 2-guard is declaring for the draft after two years at UVa.

We kid around about UK, or even UVA being interested in a player like Konan, but the fact is that is for the most part the level where 6'5" athletic kids are playing the 2. The difference is those guys have fully developed guard skills, which IMHO Patrick does not. Most mid-major programs (which is realistically where he will end up) will look at him as a 3.

it stinks perez is leaving  he could've developed into a really good guard for lu. imo, the guard depth is going to be weak.

Good point, guys, on the difference between the 2 and 3 at say the Big South level and the ACC level. The 2-3 is almost a hybrid at this level, with the three asked to rebound a little more than the two. I thought Pat looked his best this year at the end when he looked to score off the bounce. He's just not big enough to make a living trying to score around the rim on the block.

No big loss on either of the 3. We weren't going to win a conference championship with either of them starting.

:clapping Good, some other school can let him waste their floor time and possesions dribbling the ball of his foot. As for me, I'm glad to see him go.
