Look I'm sure Brad is a great guy and a great coach. The reality is that he is and always has been a McKay assistant. I'm with Jon here, it would be strange to give it to him with the names that are being mentioned. Brad would also be kind of like the Beagle I once had who would stay put for a small amount of time and then run away after a squirrel, rabbit, or deer. In this case McKay is the Squirrel.

I think Cline would give us the guy who has the bigger time experience and recruiting connections. And since he helped recruit Blake Griffin and brought him along, that can't hurt us in recruiting. If Soucie stays, recruits may still come or may go with McKay. If Cline comes some may stay, and he may bring some of his own.

Therefore Cline > Suicie

None of this matters since it's likely the decision has already been made and it's likely one that most of us (according to the poll) aren't going to be ecstatic about.

I can't vote for some reason, can't stay logged in either.

Anyway, if I were to vote, it would be Layer. A class act that could stablilize the program, and a good Christian too.

Be careful what you do here. Your post will be dug up in a couple of years if things go south again...

Brad Soucie was a Liberty assistant under Ritchie McKay, and also at New Mexico He is now our interim head coach.
Dale Layer is an assistant at Marquette, and formerly was an LU assistant under McKay. He was also a head coach at Colorado State, where he posted a 103-106 record (31-71 in the Mountain West)
Ryan Odum is an assistant at Virginia Tech.
Mark Cline is an assistant at Oklahoma under Jeff Caple. He paired with Caple at VCU a few years ago. Cline assisted at VT, ODU, NC A&T, and Fayetteville.
Rob Moxely is an assistant at Charlotte. He also was an jerk't at Maryland.
Willis Wilson was the 16-year head coach at Rice University until he was fired in '08 after a 3-27 record. He has a career record of 216-246. Jesse Sanders originally committed to Rice before Wilson's firing.
Tommy Brown is the head coach at Lee University (the team is also named the Flames). He is 52-28 and has guided the team to several NAIA tournaments and SSAC championships...

Hope this helps...

EDIT: okay, so the abbreviation for assistant that I'm using: A-S-S apostrophe T is coming up jerk't. I'm leaving it because it's funny. jerk't.

If I were a Gardner-Webb fan, I would want Liberty to pick Layer.

I am a Liberty fan, want Liberty to be successful, and thus, would prefer someone like Cline.

In a related note, I think GW should hire Mel Hankinson.

Really? You'd ignore a coach's past record? How can you do that? I know the conference was tough, and that in that span, every team went to the NCAA tournament at least once, but 31-71 is 31-71. You can't overlook that.

Well, you can't totally ignore it, but he is a better coach than that. CSU is a football school (that recently started sucking at football, too), and has not focused on basketball at all in a while. He did what he could with what he had.

That's what i meant by it, he is a better coach than his record shows. I don't want him to be the head coach but he wouldn't be a horrible choice

some of you guys are saying some very unpleasant things about guys who obviously have a good chance of being the next HC. Way to paint yourself into a corner.

It’s O-D-O-M. I’ve seen his name spelled several ways, and I think it’s important we know how to spell what could be our head coach’s last name.

so who registered under 10 extra names and voted for Soucie?

I'm just saying that was a big jump quickly without a bunch of posts saying "I Like Soucie."
