And as far as hooping with players from other teams goes, Courtney Alexander (not to be confused with my boy Cory "Alexander the Great") Dunked on me from the foul line one time in a pick up game. Norman Nolan, Colin Ducharme, Harold Dean, Curtis Staples and Jamaal Robinson used to spend their summers in Lynchburg working and playing with our guys. Larry Jackson was usually the second best player in the gym too. Courtney was an NBA player even then. I used to play in those games and with apologies to HMO, I used to Hold my Own.

Hey no apologies needed...that's where the name came from...just not in basketball in my case :D

Norman Nolan really made me think...guess it's b/c I really dont remember him...at first I thought you were talking about the Chosen One....speaking of which, I find myself sitting back and laughing about the Chosen One at least once a month...I remember him far more then any of the other one hit wonders (and by one hit I mean year, not success)

I would have to agree, Jeff Riber, greatest walk on in the history of basketball. This is coming from a first hand account of all his great deeds

Greatest walk-on that I can think of: Kyle Ohman

(It's hard to know about 70s-80s LU basketball when you are not alive)

It will be difficult to top the cult following Jeff Riber attained. He wins for popularity.

For productivity, til this year it was SCAR hands down with 616 career points.
Kyle now has 741, with another year to go. Barring a catastrophy he will be the first LU walkon in the 1000 point club. Yes, flames 1971, you nailed it. :nod

After those 2 it is a huge dropoff to Mike Reid at 329. Mike was a 7 foot high jumper who came to LU on a track scholarship and walked on in basketball.

Jeff Riber scored 20 points in his career, 1 LESS than Tim Layer.
