Definitely wouldn't be congruent with his comments on Tuesday.

Can I please just point something out:

This guy at UVA is a defensive coach. He plays a slow, grind it out, defense first game.

When has that ever been Coach McKay's style of basketball?

Just playing devil's advocate here, but Ritchie could be the offensive guy for the team...

Add to that the fact that McKay has been a head coach since 1995. After that long being in charge, playing second fiddle would be a major adjustment.

It makes sense if he is able to help turn around UVA. If he gets that accomplished then he will be getting major looks from big conferences.

I dont think there is any doubt there is an offer on the table...I think we'll know something within 48 hours...and my guess is he goes no where but uses this for more stability in the program which can come from this

I thought you might have to be able to turn a team around in the Big South or a bad conference to get ACC looks... Cant turn a Big South team into a team that can break a press, you probably wont make it too long. I might be wrong though.

Best 2 year run in LU history...I consider that a turn around

I've talked to 2 coach's outside of the BSC who both said that he's a hot name right now in the business

Cant win a Championship in the Big South with a top 50 recruiting class and the best recruiting class in Big South History... not only that but cant keep the top kids out of that class... and ive talked to at least 5 coaches outside the BS who are laughing at him.

This would be very disappointing if we lost RMK. Don't think it will happen, but didn't think Curry would leave either. Expect coach will have to put this to rest soon based on the recruiting timing.

cant find the thread after looking for several minutes, but i remember seeing the ratings for recruits last year and neither seth nor Brolin were the top rated players. Yeah you could argue Seth would have been the top kid out of this class had he stayed, but not without jesses help, and unless things with brolin changed, he def was not going to end up one of the top kids of this class.

You are correct...seth and borlin were in no way shape or fashion the reason we were in the top 50...that being coming OUT of High School but like you said, Seth proved to be the top of that class but just getting Carter was a feat...there were BIG time offers for him on the table...not to mention Jesse had options as well

My gut says he stays...

...but on paper I'd say 65% chance he leaves.... not completely sold on it.

...someone who know RMK should ask him what his long term goals are as a coach; where is his pinnacle? Is it LU?

Now if someone can give an answer to that, then we could put this topic to rest.

It would be pretty Bush-league of McKay to go after his best player left and people are starting to write off the Flames for next year.

As Chris Lang (one of the finest beat writers in the country and we're blessed to have him) said, McKay seems to have found a home at Liberty, who values his spiritual beliefs.

That's not to say that LU is McKay's end-game, I can see the guy bolting for greener pastures if / when his contract runs out or the opportunity arises... but I don't see it happening today.

(hey, our last two coaches are free... How funny would it be to see UVA pluck Mel Hankinson?)

OK I take a night off from the board and miss all the drama. I say there is NO way this happens. I just don't see it.

Well if it does happen, OOOOOO I can't say that>>>>>>>>

Alright, I just paused for a moment. This will not happen! He has said he is happy here and that LU is his perfect fit job, and I believe him. He's not going anywhere right now.
