Listen BJ - I don't think you have any room to call out any comment on this board as being dumb! You get that Presby job yet?

I agree with manson on this one. You can't get big wins like we did at VMI and then play a bad HP team and lose. It doesn't help up continue to build confidence going into the meat of our schedule and we need to beat the bad teams, because we still have a lot of good games left. Losing this game tells everyone that we are a one trick pony - we play well against teams that are much better than us, but have a tendacy to play down to our competition.

FRESHMEN!
That is all I have to say. Ups are sometimes followed by downs with inexperienced players. I hope we keep it up and sweep the rest of the schedule, but anything could happen!

LU splash page says $5 student tickets at the HP ticket gate. They also put the directions to get right to the school.

The freshman excuse is gone. It is also an insult to the guys. We are almost 2/3rds in to our season and have played some really good opponents - these aren't freshman anymore. They know what to expect and should know how to prepare for games now at this level.

My guess is McKay expects to win tomorrow and will be very upset if we don't. It's all about momentum now - nothing else and losing this game would make the games against the better teams later that much harder.

Obviously coach isn't as certain as you:
That raises the question: Is Liberty the state's best team?

"I just hope we can win the next game," said Liberty coach Ritchie McKay.

Coaches. Their tunnel vision would be impressive if it weren't so confounding.

The Flames won at Virginia, an ACC team, beat William and Mary and George Mason, CAA teams, lost at Clemson (ACC) by five, at DePaul (Big East) by one and at St. Louis (A-10) by three.
.
That is from the article asking if LU is the best team in the state. He knows like the rest of us that this is still a young team, and young teams tend to be inconsistent. FACT!

What did his statement say about freshman or being young. We will hear that same statement from McKay when Curry is a senior. Every coach thinks that way - freshman or not.

HPU isn't going to be a pushover but they are hard to get a read on. They've been in close games with UNCA and GW...and beat Winthrop, on the road. They also were blown out by Coastal Carolina and Radford.

Should be an interesting game.

It's also another hard place for us to play. It's like a modern version of Asheville's gym.

Not really, proto. They've done some nice work with the Millis Center. The goals don't hang from the ceiling like they do in Asheville. It's a decent facility for a program at its level. Much, much nicer than Asheville, CSU and CCU.

Wow Chris, those are some pretty serious qualifiers in that last sentence.

I actually like HP Facilities. I was just referencing the size of the arena itself. As far as quality goes - I would say it is top 5 in the conference. Just a side note - they don't hang from the ceiling in Asheville - they hang on the walls like on top of my Uncle's Garage.

Considering I've been to the Justice Center 80 times in the last year, I should have remembered that.

I think HP's gym seats about 2,500 now, which is just about right for their level of fan support.

You're probably right Chris about the size of the arena. I just want more from the big South and I think at this level, the minimums should be a 5,000 seat facility.

I was actually looking at our schedule and I think after playing Radford and UNCA, the last part of our schedule is the easiest part... not that it is easy...just the easiest part because of the home games and the away games against teams below us in the standings..... and Yes, a loss now would be highly discouraging after we have seen what the team can do... but it is still a win.

Let's see if we can't work on getting Coastal and CSU coming up with 1,000-seat facilities first.

After HPU we have 5 of 6 games at home. That's why this game is so big in my mind. If we can win tomorrow we will be 5-3, and then I would like to think we could go 5-1 over the next 6 which would put us at 10-4. That would set us up nicely with a great chance to finish out the regular season with a shot at the 1 seed.

good luck tomorrow night guys hopefully everyone comes away healthy on both sides. Be safe as well anyone driving down for the game I've heard anything from a dusting of snow to 4-6 feet and down here a dusting is enough to make everyone scared.

As for the game you guys should kill us, we play zone and as long as Curry stays away from the corners ( Daniels and 6'11 Steadman Short play the wings of the zone) he should have a monster game. HP leads the conference in Points allowed per game so that tells you something about our offense. The only chance we have is if somehow out of no where Eugene Harris wakes up (shooting 14% from behind the arc in conference with over 120 taken) and has a monster game.

Again good luck and be safe.

hopefully the weathermen will be wrong for the 3rd day in a row because there are at least 2 carload of us driving down and I'd prefer to not be sliding. I doubt it sticks to the roads any, but the drive back could be icy b/c it always turns to ice in NC so it could be tricky

I doubt Bart will play a zone. Even if that's your base defense, I would think he would break out of it if it's killing you.

Hopefully it will warm up enough this afternoon to clear the roads so you guys can still go.

It is finally gameday!

It's not supposed to get above freezing today. Everyone I've talked to has said the roads are pretty decent though. It's not like VMI where you're driving two lane roads. The entire trip is highway.
