I liked the team's athleticism. Think maybe ECU went to the well one too many times on those 3 pt attempts.

My MVP would've been BJ. He turned the tide with his defensive game and his energy. He keyed that huge run early in the second half.

As for Alex, hit some FTs brother and you would've had an amazing night. Solid performance though once again. How cool is it to once again big nights out of our post players.

Tonights attendence 2,664. That should go up after tonights performance.

With about 2 minutes to go BJ had a real nice coast to coast before he dished it off in the paint. He's going to be fun to watch.

Interesting ECU only shot 37% from the free throw line. Terrible. We out rebounded them by 10 to make up for our poor 3 point shooting. Could be a break out win for us. Nice to get the win without Brew.

Thanks for the compliments, ECUpirate. I have a feeling both teams will look back at the way they play tonight a little later in the season and laugh. It wasn't much for anyone to brag about.

Good luck the rest of the way.

Nice win, we'd say. And back a few posts, now we know that SCAR sounds like Clyde, but played better.

My impressions—we just did not look ready to play last tonite—and that is not simply a player issue. That being said, whatever was said to wake up the team at half-time did the trick. Just an ugly game over all but a win is a win—and it’s all about the win—one we were very lucky to get. Alex played solid tonite, too. If he’s able to establish an inside presence like this, then that takes all sort of pressure off of LB. Am I a bit disappointed by our preparedness, you bet; but I am more disappointed by the lack of fan support. The stats say 2664, but it sure seemed less than that. The school claims close to 10,000 on campus, and we can’t draw any better than that? Shame on you, students. Shame on you. Get out and support your team.

But hey, the flavor of the month was over at LC tonight.

I agree that our start was embarassing. But we showed some grit battling back after getting down 17-3. It would've been VERY easy to throw in the towel right then & there. And how about the play of our young guys? BJ, Justin and even Tyler really stepped up tonight. We've grown to expect the performances of Larry & Alex, but if we can get these other guys to deliver even on a semiregular basis we'll be tough to stop once Brew dons the LU gear (yeah, I went there).

Unfortunately it takes a few wins agains't recognizable opponents to get the students to come to the games just to get the ugly memories of last season out of their heads. By conference time we should get a good read of how the attendence will pan out. The Brew factor will bring them in as well.

I credit this one to Russ. Now that he has his own fan club, look out.

And that dunk. He turned around with the "Yeah, I just kicked your dog across the gym. What do you want to do about it?" look on his face. Lighted up the crowd, that was for sure.

haha, flavor of the month...brand new isn't really the "flavor of the month" kind of a band...they are one of those bands that will have a solid following for years but never quite make it mainstream...

anyways, i think the crowd would've been a lot better...to be honest i think there was close to 3,000 there. The team is coming off a terrible season, it will take a while for the place to become fuller....i expect there to be more come monday....a lot of students do leave on weekends, especially after football season

with that said, this was a great win...they didn't play amazing or anything but after going down 17-3 in the first 10 minutes they really picked it up...the big dunk really amped these guys up, and their defense was very solid....and they gave up very few second chance baskets which is a good sign

plenty of room for improvement, but I have already seen improvement from this team and am looking forward to seeing this team grow...these guys really do seem to enjoy playing with eachother, its been a while since I have seen that around here...

I think back, Russel's dunk is what turned the game around....and Justin Holland forcing 4 turnovers in a row in the first half, and we scored on three of them....Good win tonight..

I talked to a guy at Sheetz earlier and he said he thought Larry was shooting way too much but that we did really good pulling the win out after the way we started. I'm glad to see that.

I know ugly, and that game was UGLY. I don't think you can underestimate the 31% FT shooting by ECU b/c there were a lot of front ends that were missed. I would say McClean looked good, at least he was the one who stuck out in my mind. He did a nice job on the boards. He stepped up when the tall/big feller was out for ECU.
I know I sound, and am labeled a hater, but this was not impressive. ECU couldn't throw it in the ocean, which is odd since they are located right next to it, and it wasn't b/c of LU's lock down defense. We beat a team that will finish in the lower part of CUSA and we will finish in the low part of the BS. Two good things: We won. It was close and somewhat exciting

At sat third row mid court tonight, face painted, with many friends, it was awesome. Liberty basketball is back. The atmosphere was great. I got to shoot free throws during the competition at the second half and I got beat by a kid on a last second shot! The kid was BJ Jenkins' little brother. I airballed a free throw, that was embarrassing. There's a kid who sits midcourt every game and he really got the crowd going tonight, dancing and spelling out L-I-B-E-R-T-Y for everyone. We need a kid like that to get stuff started, he was awesome. For those who went to the Blue/White game, the same kid who stood up the entire game cheering, doing spirit fingers for free throws and everything. So, if anyone has read the football forum, everyone knows now that I'm the mascot but I let someone else do it tonight so I could watch the game - it was a good time, a great win.

I don't think either team was as bad as they shot tonight whether you are talking from the stripe, behind the line or anywhere.
