Tuesday night, in a blowout win over rival Daniel HS, Xzavier Barmore scored 32 points IN THE FIRST HALF! Keep in mind, that is a 16 minute half in HS ball. With a huge !ead, Seneca's coach played reserves almost the entire second half, and ZayZay did not score, finishing with 32.

Also found this video of game highlights from Brock Gardner's team from last week. Their record is 12-0 right now. Really shows his overall skill set. Definitely going to bring some excitement to the Vines next season.

Gardner will be playing for his 3rd state championship Tuesday night. In the quarters, with the game tied and the ball in his hands, he drove the lane and dropped a perfect dime on the coach's son ( nerdy looking little guy with glasses) for an easy layup at the buzzer. He then went for 23, 10 and 7 in a 5 point semi win.

His team is 32-5 and Hayden is their 2nd leading scored at 12.7ppg.
Thanks! I guess he'll be a good candidate for redshirt next year.

Here is a link to video on that game winning pass by Gardner to his teammate at the buzzer. Guys are chasing him everywhere.

On a side note, I have seen pictures of the coach and don't think he could have a son that old. Anyhow, love to see guys make winning plays with the game on the line.

Congrats to Xzavier Barmore on his excellent season and player of the year award. Gardner and Barmore's ability to score and create for others is going to fit in well with this year's team. I for one am very excited to get these 2016 guys in with our current roster with how much this year's team has improved and the experience they are getting in meaningful games this season.

I was in PHX last week and spoke to some people about the level of competition that Gardner plays against. I was told it was a very poor league by a few sports people from the local scene. It will be interesting to see how he develops against tougher players.
That being said, he does have a good AAU career and seems to be a good player. I wish I had gone to see him play, but it was either that or play golf. :)

Not surprised you would hear that about the league, and there is truth to it, but to some extent based on past reputation. There are more quality players now. Brock has a 6'9" JR teammate, Nigel Shadd, a 3 star prospect with múltiple D1 offers. He is a beast as a shot-blocker/rebounder. We haven't offered, but I suspect he may be our top backup plan if we end up losing out on Newton to UVA.

Brock Gardner's Tri-Cities team came up one point short of their 3rd state title in 4 years at Sun's arena last night. He finishes his career with 2 championships and 2 finals losses.

Found some video of Gardner from his State Tournament run. Couldn't find anything on the other guys but hopefully in the next month we will see some end of year stuff. With no club updates, we probably won't hear much until these guys show up on campus this summer.

These videos are of the entire team but Gardner is involved in many of them. #22 in white. The skill set going on in these videos is something to be excited about adding to our current roster. Great vision on many assists to teammates. Long distance 3 pt shooting behind the NBA line with ease. I know its only high school but love guys who are able and willing to make plays for others.

Are we done recruiting for 2016? Looking at where we are after the Fall signings and the players we are recruiting for 2017, I' m prepared to say it is highly unlikely we will use our one available schollie for another Freshman this Spring. That would leave us with none available for 2017 with Cuffee already comitted and Newton a top priority. There is a way however, that we could bring in one, or even 2 more impact players for 16 and still have the schollies for 17.............. graduate transfers. It we lose one player to attrition this Spring. (I don't think it's a secret who it might be) we could actually bring in 2 grad transfers and still have schollies for Cuffee and Newton. Piece of cake Ritchie. Gettur done.

I think most likely done for 2016 but I'm sure some back up plans are in place. Typically, I would say you probably look hard at graduate transfers but less likely for a new coach building with young players. The payoff is typically in year 3, 4 and 5 when these young guys are upperclassmen.

My guess is there will be one or two changes to the roster but maybe not. This seems like a tight knit group. If you were looking for a graduate transfer, what position would you really target?

PG - Cabbil, Barmore, Atensia, Hoffman
SG - Dawson, Kemrite, Worman, Heipler
SF - Reid, Gardner, Hicks
PF - Homesley, ETalbert
C - Maxwell, JTalbert, Koval

That is 16 guys which is too many so some guys will most likely not be back. Most of those guys can play multiple positions so it will be interesting to see where Coach plays them. I really think the lineup of Cabbil, Dawson, Kemrite, Gardner/Homesley and Maxwell may be the primary . Barmore is an X factor which could move Cabbil to the 2 a lot more. I like the looks of this group already with lots of talent on the bench. There are going to be some serious battles in the offseason and during practice which will only speed up development. Good thing is we will have size to matchup with the bigger teams and we have more depth to play smaller with most of the BSC teams. I look for 9-10 guys in the rotation next season.
