that just doesnt work for me and I don't think any good comes of it. mouth writing checks a body cant cash kinda thing. It just makes fans mental when things inevitably change.

Bingo. McKay has never been at a place for more than 6 seasons. Now he comes back here saying this? Give us a break. It's Division I basketball and we've been through this before with him. Accomplish what you were hired to do and let your actions do the talking. When we are "the Gonzaga of the east coast" and you have been here for a while, then you will have plenty to talk about. Right now? Not so much.

This is a high risk/high reward hire. I hope that he succeeds, but I am not sure that he will. There are plenty of reasons to give me hope, but quite a few key questions too.

If the rumors that McKay is going to retain Omar Mance are correct, there may in fact be only one opening left on his staff. Brad Soucie is almost a given, and Matt Olinger was his basketball ops guy when he left, so why wouldn't he keep him now? That would leave one assistant coaching position. I doubt he could (or would) steal anyone else from UVA. I would love to see an LU alum in that slot. Ryan Mantlo and Jason Allison (if he doesn't get the HC job at VMI) would seem to be the most qualified.

There's no way Jason Allison would work for Ritchie. There's a reason the Allison fan boys all don't like Ritchie and that's because Jason doesn't like Ritchie.

That isn't going to happen of course. I think Ritchie has his staff completed assuming Soucie comes back. I know who it is but I am not allowed to reveal it at this time unfortunately. It will probably be announced fairly soon though. It isn't Allison and it isn't Mantlo.

Also I don't think Allison is going after the VMI job. He has a good gig at App State. He is in the Bob McKillop coaching tree working with Coach Fox.
